May be good in the future but not ready yet.

Posted Oct 30, 2016 on Hotels
A recently taken over guest house with certain bits not ready for paying guests. Swimming pool a building site, television just put up but drill hole dust thick underneath. No wifi working and no support on site. Down the road was the hub of the organisation who tried their best but need to understand people are paying for advertised quality

If you hate Life and Beach ... you have arrived!

Posted Oct 23, 2016 on Hotels
The property should be downgraded to Backpacker. This has nothing to do with the room itself, but with the structure of the property. The building is situated directly at the beach, but all room windows face the concrete desert, which is the courtyard, whose only feature was a broken pool, tools lying around and broken bricks. There is no reception, this can be found 500m down the road at a five star guest house (with seaviews). Breakfast is served also at that guest house. There is nobody to room you in, to the contrary: have fun finding your room, you are on your own! And how depressing that you sit in a room and hear the waves crashing on the beach, but to that side it is a solid wall. The architect needs to be treated for acute beach-phobia! The area has nothing to offer, no cafe, no bar, no restaurant, no amenities whatsoever. Best advise to drive to The Gannet or Protea Hotel (10km !!) that is where Mossel Bay has its heart, The Bay Lodge unfortunately is at the "other" part of Mossel Bay's body! Shocking experience of being treated like having a contagious illness. Never, never, ever again!

Although the breakfast room has a great view over the beach, all bedrooms face the street behind - misleading to say "sea view" from the room. Place slightly tired and not close to town.

Great location, helpful staff and a nice breakfast

Posted Nov 13, 2015 on Hotels
Due to long journey arrived late. Check in was helpful and advised us of local restaurants that offered free shuttle service. Just what we needed. We had family room just for the two of us. Was very spacious and comfortable. Lovely breakfast. Great location right on an amazing beach. Bathroom was a little tired but perfectly adequate .Would recommend for the price.

Top ranking B & B.

Wonderful B & B. Greeted warmly by Wally. Right on the beach, Gracious owner, Breakfast was a little over done, but believe that the young lady was called away. Certainly everything was very well presented with some very attractive presentations. Would definitely stay again

Attention to detail made this a very comfortable hotel in a beautiful location situated on the beach. Good breakfast choice, although, hot option was not very warm by the time it reached our table. It was approximately 5 kms for Mossel Bay town centre but that was not a problem. Security around was good and staff efficient and helpful

Nice Stay at Bay Lodge

The hotel owner and some staff were super. However, two cleaning ladies showed a bad attitude towards us.
