Our Second Visit

Pros: Pet friendly, quiet, nice folks at the desk, convenient location, good beds, lots of hot water for the bathtub.
Cons: Breakfast. Actual safety of concrete stairway, rather than just a sign noting the danger.
Location: Rehab Center, Assisted Living, hot springs nearby,
We like the convenient location of the Historian Inn. It is quiet and comfortable. They are more than just pet friendly, they presented us with a welcome basket for our dog. Be sure to take note of the sign on the outside stairway, though. It says "hold handrail." When I went down the stairs with our dog under one arm and a bag over the other shoulder I ended up falling on my head. I have a lump on my head, a skinned back and knee, and a bruise on my shoulder. I figure that the sign is probably there to minimize the owners' liability. No serious injuries, anyhow. I had been looking forward to the delicious breakfast we'd had the first time we stayed there, but maybe we were a little bit too late. The woman at the desk the evening we checked in had told us she would try to get yogurt for the yogurt parfaits we mentioned we liked last time. Alas, the yogurt failed to materialize. There wasn't any oatmeal, either, and there was only one cup of coffee in the pot at the breakfast area. Kinda sad.

Great stop for the night on our journey!

We were driving from Vegas through Death Valley on our way to San Francisco. We want to see as much as possible on the way so we took 395 north and we’re planning the stop for the night in the topaz area. Glad we kept driving a little bit further because we ended up staying here. The staff at the front desk was very helpful when we got there and even helped us plan our route for the next day. The room was clean and comfortable. The room also had just about everything you would ever need including beer and liquor in the room. Across the street was a really good restaurant and smaller casino. I would highly reccomend this place to anyone

Thought it might be a bit more historic

Thought the rooms might be a bit more historic and we stayed six nights and really would have loved a continental breakfast every am especially for that price however the location for the hotel worked great for us!

Incredible staff

Under new management. The new staff were incredibly accommodating and just plain nice! The rooms are cute,clean and comfortable. Excellent location. Great value.

Great in town location.

The reason we picked this hotel was the location. We could walk to local restaurants, bars and casinos. The room was clean and though it has an older feel to it, was nicely updated with newer paint, laminate floors, flat screen TV and a microwave and refrigerator. The only negative was the heating. When we checked in the room was freezing and took a few hours to heat up. It is right on the highway so there is street noise, but there are rooms toward the back that are quieter.

This hotel is placed in a walkable area. You can walk down the old town street to restaurants, shops, a museum, bars and a casino, or you can walk down the great nature trail behind Heritage Park. We strolled through neighborhoods too. Staying here was like stepping back in time. It was quiet. It felt safe. All the people were nice.

Nice hotel but misleading pictures from Expedia

I did not see the mountains that is posted on Expedia from my room. Yes, there are mountains everywhere in Nevada.

Thanks for the feedback. The best view of the mountains are facing US Hwy 395 on the 2nd floor balcony. Next time you are in the area, you may want to request a room on the 2nd floor facing the mountains.

Need to clean better way better

The toliet was dirty . They didn't clean it. Disgusting. Pillow had something red not sure if it was blood but they didn't clean it either.
