We wanted a hotel that was easily accessible for a weekend in Paris. This hotel is a short walk from the Gare du Nord, so ideal for Eurostar connections. Any area near a main railway terminus in a large city is not going to be the most salubrious, but the area felt safe, if a bit edgy. Inside, the hotel could have been in any part of Paris.
It is close to a Metro station, so it was easy to travel all over Paris. Monmartre is within walking distance - just.
Hotel staff were helpful.
We had an enjoyable, hassle free stay.

Anyone looking for a hotel that is convenient for the centre of Paris and Gard du Nord should consider this hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The weather was very hot during our stay so we were glad of the air conditioning in the room. There was a (small) bath and a shower although the shower head would not stay in position and kept sliding down its support. This was the only real fault but not one we thought worth complaining about. Otherwise we were very happy with our experience of the Louis Blanc Hotel.

Chose and stayed here because I needed to take the RER early the next morning. A small, affordable, and well cleaned & organized room was provided for me. Everything was new, clean, and exactly what I needed from a hotel near the train station, a good night's sleep.

Pocket Guide: Paris Gare du Nord - Gare de L'Est Hotels
This is an area of transit, with two mainline stations and a dozen Métro links. Gare du Nord is the terminus for Eurostar and trains to Charles de Gaulle Airport. The main sights are glass and fan museums and the 17th-century archways of St-Denis and St-Martin. Ethnic shops, markets and restaurants on Boulevard du Strasbourg and Passage Brady ('Little India') and lively cafés along Canal St-Martin make atmospheric diversions.
