"Great but small"
I very much like The Archer Hotel. The rooms are well appointned and comfortable. They do a wonderful job with the thoughtful extras and details. The only negative is the rooms are VERY small.

"Small friendly hotel in Midtown. Excellent staff. "
This was our 3rd stay in the hotel. The staff is consistently friendly and competent. The check in was fast. There is valley service if you arriving in your own car. Rooms are on a small side but have everything you need, even bath robes. Good linens and towels, comfortable bed and pillows. The room was very quiet which is difficult to find in NYC. Free coffee, tea. hot chocolate in the morning. The only disappointment was the restaurant for breakfast. Eat elsewhere.

"Great Hotel in NYC - just ask for an 'inside' room"
Two visits in one week and both were wonderful - for different reasons. Visit one we were upgraded to a King bed room. The room was lovely, spacious and faced the inner 'shaft' and room walls. I thought the room could use a better layout/furniture maybe to make it less tight, but we couldn't get over the other perks of Hotel Metro. Best location for those flying into Newark and training it to Penn Station. Perfectly situated for long walks up or down town...close enough to all the action but far enough away to find some quiet. The continental breakfast was also great and the free Wi-Fi was appreciated! Visit #2 had us up two floors, double bed room - great and redone it seems with showers with 3 different heads (SO great!). The floor in Rm 803 had a pretty wicked 'slope' just outside the washroom that could use some love and attention but the only real downside of this room was the street noise. I was expecting the quiet lovely sleep of visit #1 - NOT TO BE HAD...I swear I could hear the pedestrians breathing as they walked by the Hotel at 3am (and all night long). I got very little sleep...and won't arrive without earplugs next time 'just in case'. This all said, I give this Hotel a two-thumbs-up rating and am excited to now have 'my Hotel' in NYC...perfect for quick getaways and absolutely a gem in the city.

"Reasonable place to stay"
There's not glamorous about this place. My room was about 8'x9' and was modestly decorated. Basically it was a bed and shower – you weren't inviting people over.

Cute, had a lot of character. Room was a very good size, bathroom small but that is to be expected in NYC. The room had radiator heat, which meant there was no way to control it. The bed was comfortable, but it was very difficult to sleep because the room was so warm. I would stay again, but maybe not in the winter.

"Minimalistic but decent."
It took 10+ minutes to finally get warm water in the shower. Our room had a bathtub but you could only take showers. It featured an electric room heater (not central heat) that did the job. The two single beds were "glorified cots" (with real mattresses).

"Nice apartment, well located"
These apartments are a good price (for New York standards) and they offer more space than most other hotels I have stayed at in NY. The small apartment has a kitchen with all appliances, a spacious room, good bathroom, good internet connection. It was very clean when I arrived - bear in mind though that since these are apartments, no one comes daily to clean and replenish the bathroom stock. So if you are here for more than 3 days, make up your own bed and don't waste your shampoo! As for the noise, it is true that 9th avenue is very noisy and the building is right by the entrance to Lincoln tunnel, but on the other hand all Manhattan is super noisy and that's to be expected. Apt 168 actually leave you ear plugs and eye cover by the bed tohelp you deal with that... I would totally recomment this place.
