Luxirious, mountain resort

Posted Sep 6, 2017
This resort was so unique. It's out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by rugged mountains and dessert-type terrain. It's luxurious yet comfortable, and the grounds are stunning. The resort only has 72 rooms, and with it's sprawling size, you almost feel you are the only ones there. What makes this place so unique are the excursions they offer from ATVs to helicopter rides over the canyons to horseback riding and skeet shooting. It's a place of tranquility but also has enough thrills for the adventure-seeking vacationer. Our room was immaculate, and had all the comforts of home, plus a cozy fire pit on the balcony. We would definitely go back for another couples long weekend getaway!

Terrific, high quality resort in a beautiful location. Great food at Paradox and Entrada. The Gateway Auto Museum is a plus!

The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, especially, Chel. The resort is in an amazingly beautiful setting. There were areas around the resort that definitely need work, especially considering the cost of the stay. The beds were very comfortable. The pools were amazing and the fire pits were relaxing.

Beautiful property lacking a bit in service.

The grounds and the property are second to none. However the service leaves a bit to be desired. While everyone was nice, we asked for our room to be cleaned twice one day and it just never was. Food service took forever. The food was delicious though, especially at Entrada.

beautiful hotel in a lovely setting

Posted Apr 4, 2014
Pros: Unique setting with spectacular views from every angle. Very attentive staff and plenty of activities (if in season) or just relax.
Cons: We had trouble with fireplace and hot tub but it seemed to be because of construction onsite that broke a gas line. Staff was quick to handle.
Location: Great hiking trails onsite. We also made the trip to Arches Nat'l Park, Moab UT. About 2 hours away. Well worth the drive!
Spring break 3/29-4/4 at Gateway was our family's first time in CO. The resort was quiet as this was not their busy season. Some amenities not available this time of year like the driven experience. ATV/Jeep tours are weather dependent. The nicer restaurant, Entrada, is only open on the weekend which means Paradox Grille is the only option (for every meal!!) the rest of the week. However, the Paradox staff (Chanae, Gera, Levi and Chef John) was outstanding and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Chef John even surprised our family on our last night with off the menu specials so we could have something different. Everything was wonderful! Scenery is amazing with many hiking trails that kept us busy. Private hot tub on was the perfect after-hike activity. My husband and son spent hours in the car museum. It's a must see!

the desert flowers in the spring

Posted May 22, 2013
The country side is breathtaking. The climate in the spring is good. The hotel was fine, but the food was so-so. If you are not looking for a great culinary experience, this is a good way to see the flowers in the spring.

Spectacular surroundings

Very pricey place, but well-appointed rooms, great service and good food. The location and surrounding scenery can't be beat.
