Kingwood Inn

Posted Aug 22, 2016
Pros: The room was clean.
Cons: A lot. It needs major updating.
Location: It was only about a block away from The Village, in Gatlinburg.
The room was not bad. A little dated and musty but overall OK. The beds were OK, although the sheets had blood stains on them and they wouldn't stay on the mattress. I had to adjust them several times in the night and finally just gave up trying to get them to stay on. My biggest complaint was that the hotel was only staffed by three people and they were questionable. We were contacted by one of them before our stay and were instructed that we needed to pay with cash. After arriving, we were informed that they had to be out of the location by the end of August. It all just seemed a little sketchy to me. Maybe if the hotel was under different management, it could really flourish. It is a nice facility, just run down and not properly cared for.

Do NOT stay here!

Posted Aug 1, 2016
Pros: Absolutely nothing
Cons: Entire motel needs to be renovated. Owners need to get their dog off the property because it stinks. Rooms need to be cleaned.
Location: Gatlinburg is a very fun town to stay in. Just wish the motel owner would take some time to renovate and he would probably receive more business.
Recent stay. Reserved for 2 nights and left after 1. No refund allowed for 2nd night though the reason we were leaving was the motel's fault. The rooms are very outdated. The outdoor balconies are covered with mismatched cheap rug that is peeling up and taped down with tape. The rooms smell and the towels must be washed with vinegar because the towels are rough and smell like mayonnaise. We did not even take showers because they were filthy. When you first walk in to check in, the lobby smells like stinky dog. This was confirmed by the large dog behind a baby gate where the owner and maybe his girlfriend? live on the premises. The continental breakfast is just a motel room off of the lobby and it smells so bad, it hits you in the face when you walk in. Smells so bad of wet dog. The breakfast is a loaf of bread set beside a filthy toaster, a waffle iron that is covered in black burnt crust, Little Debbie snacks and a box of mini donuts. One cereal is left out in case you want cereal. Coffee machine is filthy.. I advised my family not to go into that room. The smell alone makes you feel dirty. I approached the owner who was sitting outside with his "girlfriend" about the smell and cleanliness of the room... as a courtesy from a customer. The "girlfriend" tried to get loud with me and the owner kicked me off the property. His response was " Well if you don't like it here, than get off of my property ". As I was leaving, another family said they would never stay there again.

Decent no-frills hotel but rooms are showing age

Posted Jul 25, 2016
Decent hotel room but definitely showing its age. AC was cold & powerful so that was a wonderful surprise. Check in was quick which was nice but the lady was not friendly or welcoming. Check out was quick too so that was appreciated. Wifi signal in our room was weak. The signal was strong near the hotel office but not in our room so it was useless. Please fix this if you are going to continue to advertise free wifi at the hotel. A wifi signal range extender/booster would work wonders to easily fix this problem.

Close to main strip: modest but pleasant enough

Posted Apr 18, 2016
Pros: Location and friendly main office staff
Cons: Towel rationing should end. Wifi should work.
Location: Close to main strip.
Couldn't get wifi to work, not enough towels and a barebones kind of room but it's placed in a good location for visiting Gatlinburg and the staff seemed nice.

Not what I expected

Posted Mar 22, 2016
This hotel is incredible old and outdated. They say they have staff that works in the lobby for when you have trouble but no one answers the phone after 5.00 PM. The walls are paper thin and you hear every little thing. we would not stay here again.

Horrible !!!

Posted Mar 18, 2016
Pros: The only positive was the location of this place being near to shopping areas.
Cons: Major changes are needed
Location: near to shopping
A room was available as arranged on the internet, but severe problems were found. First, the heat and air conditioning unit did not work and the staff refused to fix the problem and wouldn't allow transfer to another room. No air circulation was very uncomfortable. Second, peanut butter was found on two knives left on top of the stove and an envelope requesting a tip for room service was on a table next to the door. As a result, the cleanliness of the room was questionable and I started fearing bed bugs such that it was difficult to sleep, whether the bugs were there or not. Third, when taking a shower the water didn't drain well and there was standing water two inches above my ankles deep when finished. Look at some of the negative reviews written about this place and stay in a different motel.
