OK for combined business trip and holiday

This hotel is well located but is significantly understaffed for the number of guests arriving and leaving. On too many occasions we were kept waiting for considerable time, the lifts were insufficient for the number of guests and the car park was cramped. On the plus side the room was fine and well looked after by the attentive housekeeping team and, in spite of the number of people staying, quiet and relaxing.

Convenient & Great Value!

It was a great hotel, great value, a nice 2.5km walk to the centre of Genoa. Not far off of the motorway, so easy to get off & get back on. We had a family room with a king bed & sofa bed for the kids, but then got a travel bed for our little one with no issues.

Clean and good service

Very good nice staff, hotel is a little out of maintenance and is no where near as good as the Berlin ones. Facilities were great.

The room was good and so was breakfast but the pool area and other public parts are very run down. The hotel staff are very nice though.

Novotel-poor customer service.

Very poor. Needed assistance and the hotel refused. Hotels.com were amazing to help. But Novotel did not want to know.

Pros: good swimming pool, good rooms, helpful staff.
Cons: Better breakfast, better coffee, this is Italy at the end of the day
Good stop-over, 5 min to the city centre don't stay long

Mixed feelings

This is our second stay at Novotel Genova Ovest. The reception staff were lovely, unlike the housekeeping staff who woke us up to retrieve bathroom plugs (!!) and kettles to 'disinfect' at 9 in the morning. Not ideal when you are jet-lagged! The rooms have coffee and tea making facilities but they were not restocked in the morning. On our departure day our in-room breakfast was delivered 45 minutes late despite soliciting the restaurant. This was far from ideal, as we had a flight to catch. The beds and pillows are the most uncomfortable I have ever found in any 3-4 star hotel, sadly. Breakfast in the restaurant is very good though, with plenty of fresh fruit and alternatives for non-meat eaters. The hotel staff is very child friendly and the restaurant food is good, albeit a little expensive for what it is.

West of town, handy for buses.

Pros: Ought to have been the pool.
Cons: General updating. Bathroom showing black mould.
Location: Handy for all the buses, or 20 min walk to the old town.
For a city break, decent location with lots of bus routes. June, but neither pool nor terrace were open. Disappointing as it was a prime reason to book. Jaded decor and facilities. Breakfast poor. Only saw fresh fruit once, hot food tepid in a "warming" container never switched on. Smiley staff but hotel not up to muster.
