Really interesting property.
Really interesting place. Very large room tall ceilings with a fan. My room had two beds but I was a single booking. The place is hard to find not a hotel more like airbnb rental. Lady incharge of check-in knew zero English but the process was simple enough as was check out. Very good value for money but I was in early summer season.

Visiting historic centre of Genoa
4 day visit to Genoa and surrounding area. The Palazzo Cicala is situated a 5 minute walk from San Giorgio metro. Access to apartment complex by door code at street entrance. I stayed two nights in basic apartment € 75 and two nights in superior apartment € 111. Both rooms spacious, small fridge, coffee machine. Room windows face out onto small square. Beds comfortable. I thought it was reasonable value for money given the excellent location.

This hotel is a joke.
There was nobody there when we arrived. They had not sent us the key less entry code and I had to call back to the USA for it. The rooms had missing lights/non working lights. The bathrooms were a joke and dirty. There was no staff to talk too and I was over charged for an extra room that I never booked for.

Self-Serve room rental business
This is not a hotel as advertised. Not cheap Self service 2star room rental maximum. You are on your own. The maids tried very hard to answer our questions and were very friendly. Clean room but flawed design. Bathroom was not a private space but had transparent, useless glass doors!

Great location
Beautiful rooms in ancient building. Right in front of the San Lorenzo cathedral. Great for walking in Genoa. Friendly and helpful staff spoke English.

Cool hide away in the heart of the old city
Charming and by American standards a little odd. Loved the room and the location right In the heart of the old city. The manager was very nice and helpful. Pointed us to great restaurant nearby. Genoa is quite a cool place wish we could stay longer.

Great place to Stay
Wonderful Hotel in perfect location near city center, but still in a calm area. It is more kind of a Bed and Breakfast than a Hotel. I can recommend renting a suite. Very spacious and amazing view. But unfortunately it has a very small shower, compared to the big and nice bathroom. Overall a great pleace to stay. Wifi is fast and works well.

Beautiful historic room hotel in the town square!
A bit hard to find but definitely worth the search. Be prepared to park in a lot and carry your luggage several blocks. Awesome experience staying in such a quaint atmosphere.

Amazing palace, modern decor
It is an amazing ancient palace that was all renovated with a very modern and minimalist style. I loved the decor and how they renewed it. Looks coming out from a magazine! It has, however, narrow elevators and accesses to rooms, toilet flushes are extremely noisy and you can't sleep in the morning as you hear everyone else flushing, and the location, although it is very central, can only be reached walking (need to park a couple of streets away) and at night it is quite daunting to get there, through narrow and dark streets full of homeless and weird people.

Small hotel in great Genoa location
Hotel can be a little hard to find, but just go to Piazza de San Lorenzo, stand in front of the Cathedral and look just to your right across plaza and you will see sign at ground level over in the corner. Ring buzzer next to sign. Very old building in good shape, you have to take elevator to the next floor up to get to reception. 1st floor in Europe, what we would call 2nd floor in USA. Rooms are huge, some baths are small, some large, 14' ceilings and breakfast overlooking plaza and cathedral. Great neighborhood to explore Genoa from, close to everything but rail stations. And taxis are not allowed up Via de San Lorenzo, so you have to walk a short way up or down to get to plaza, but I did see some taxis come in, so just ask. Staff is very friendly and helpful and spoke English.

Only book if looks are more important than comfort
Arrived at hotel by car only to find the hotel is not accessible by car (and that gps does not work well in the area). Had to trudge suitcases across two piazzas to find the location. It is in an old historic building which is nice, and if that is your main criteria for a hotel then it is a "maybe". It seems like it is run by people who have never run a hotel before. The shower in our room was not finished construction, the bath towels were tea towels, there was no shampoo/toiletries, and the staff were not knowledgeable about either Genova or the area around it. The breakfast was marginal and they ran out of bread and had to send the lady who was serving breakfast out to get more bread, leaving other guests arriving for breakfast totally confused about what was going on for breakfast.

Totally fine if nothing else is available
Stayed a night at this hotel in November. The double room we booked in the main building was just as pictured, clean and spacious. The staff was nice and willing to help. There were no towels at first, but they were quickly found when we asked. Also as soon as we checked in, the heating was turned on. Breakfast was alright, although make sure you come early as the chance is there may be no room for everyone. The main drawback was the tiny shower cabin where the only shower head is fixed to the ceiling and therefore water inevitably pours on your head even if you don't want it...

Hotel staff was diligent and corteous, however maintenance was not good. Chair cover with dirt spot, the watercloset cover has its hinges broked and fall all the time, however we receive it with the cover in its place, and when you attemp to open it.... Voila there is the surprise. Same thing happen with the sanitary paper roll holder, it was hanging from a side of the towell hanger. Price was according with what is it, but this kind of stupid details not being cared degraded the Staff efforts.

Cool spacious funky apartment-hotel
Was fun to open the door to my room in this old palazzo, and see the huge ceilings and large double windows which opened onto a courtyard. The wifi in my room wasn't working, so that was a disappointment, and breakfast wasn't included either, unfortunately. The large room was divided up a bit to make room for a bathroom and shower, and it was plenty big enough for me, who was traveling alone.

we booked an apartment - great service when we arrived in the middle of the day, but they were a bit overwhelmed during busy check in time later. The hotel neighborhood and most of the apartments are in a great location/neighborhood. However, they do have some apartments (ours included) that was a 5min walk away through a slightly seedier part of town. But it was a great apartment in a historic building next to a museum, so can't complain! Had breakfast - good enough without being overly exorbitant.

Convenient when settled in your room!
Find the huge iron door in San Lorenzo Piazza then the hotel name plaque and bell push. Ask for help if non enter the lobby leave your luggage and walk up the marble stairs. Receptionists are helpful and will assist with the lift of required. Centrally situated with comfortable rooms. A simple breakfast and no signal for Tv or computer. If that is ok you may enjoy it.

Very central but also noisy
We were disappointed with the hotel all round. Our room was sparsely furnished, small and austere. The en suite bathroom was tiny and the basic shower was absurdly small. There was a lot of close noise from revellers, scooters and council operatives all night forcing us to close the windows. The breakfast was poor and the small lounge drab. All round, this is a 3 star hotel at a pinch but not 4 star.

Great location, good leg work out
The apartment was very nice and even bigger than we expected. They even had a small 2nd bathroom which really came in handy. The room overlooked the Piazza San Lorenzo, so we had a beautiful view, but it's also a hangout for loud locals who obviously don't have to get up early for work in the morning. The hotel does have an elevator, but NOT for the section we were in up 3 flights! The staff was GREAT; they were very friendly, and the young man who checked us in even brought up our bags and showed us around the room.

Not what I was expecting.
Was hard to locate. Was expecting a fancy hotel but it was a family run type hotel. The rooms are very spacious and it is a very quaint business, but I was not in the mood for quaint and wanted more luxurious. Most upsetting part was the hotel is a part of a residential building so you had to be buzzed in...me and my girlfriend stood outside in the rain for half an hour constantly buzzing hotel to let us in at 1800. We were only let in because other people staying there were at the front desk waiting for service and they heard us trying to get in.

good value for what it is.
we had an apartment which wasvery spacious, however therewas mould in part of the living area and there is no lift to the room. So the apartment is not a good idea if you have small child or struggle with stairs. There was no airconditioning but the staff were happy to supply fans. The breaskfast area is very small and easily gets over crowded but they are happy for you to take it to your room although its on the other side of the building. Very central location

Wonderful experience
For us the most important thing in travel is the staff , most hotels are clean at 4 star, however it's the personal touch which makes the stay memorable. This hotel when we arrived had a couple of technical issues which was really no fault to the hotel management, however the speed on which the issues were resolved and there continued efforts to make the stay enjoyable during our stay was fantastic none I have experienced even at the well know 5 star hotels, nothing was to hard, it was all done with a smile. Location was great right in the heart of the town walked everywhere, room was the largest i've had in europe...We recommend this hotel, we don't ever provide feedback on hotels however this place is worth the effort....

Ok, but would probably not return
Not convenient if you have a car, car had to be left 10 mins away in public car park, quite expensive. Room we had was actually an apartment separate from the hotel. Was good size but with the inconvenience of being 3-4 mins away. Well located. Would likely look for an alternative place to stay if I went back to Genoa.

Awfully!
This hotel is old, tired and IMHO manages by very covetous and mingy troll. Despite of exclusive location there was difficult to find it - no access by car with heavy luggage - hotel is in the pedestrian area, no parking, no any sign... The electricity was shutting down every half an hour. When we arrived our triple room was given to previous guest just before our eyes, they offered another room in another building. It was clear but without air conditioneer (in June!) and with cot instead of third bad. This offer was rejected - all the more so many hotels around were free. The stuff was very helpful, friendly and was ashamed but couldn't do anything...

Beautiful but noisy
Rooms are very beautiful, and decorated in what I think of as typical Italian style, rooms are large and very comfortable. The room had a computer and had free internet. Didn't take advantage of the breakfast but it looked very good. The only problem, and for us this was major, was the noise level, It was impossible to sleep until late in the evening until about midnight due to the noise from the street outside and the reception area (the phone in the reception would wake us up). If it wasn't for this we would definitely stay there again.

Great atmosphere - incredible location
Palazzo Cicala is a beautiful of palazzo with a lot of charm and character. The staff is very approachable & multilingual. They were willing to make several calls on my behalf when the train service, and therefore my travel plan, was interuppted due to heavy rains. Enjoyed having breakfast while looking out onto Piazza San Lorenzo. One drawback was that my room's wifi connection did not work due to the very thick walls blocking the signal. However, there was a strong wifi connection in the lobby. Another drawback is that with the old windows - you can hear some street noise in the rooms at night time. Didn't bother me after the first night.

True Old Town Experience
This hotel is located iin the heart of Genoa's Old Town and short walks will get you to many attractions - the Aquarium, the cathedral, museums, art, and the port. The hotel is in the process of remodelling. The rooms that are finished are great. It will be a real showplace when finished as I'm sure it was when the de Circle family lived there. It's also obvious that many locals live in the area, so it does not feel as if every restaurant and shop was set for tourists. We were two older women traveling together and met a number of single women staying there and we all felt safe.

Unusual
Location was a bit uncomfortable. This very small hotel is hard to find and unreachable by car (you have to walk few hundred meters, with luggage). Room had "cellar type feeling" with low curved ceiling) Windows opened to small dark square, lot of noise during night. Breakfast was very simple/basic. Nice italian/design furniture in the rooms.

wonderful location
My kids loved this hotel, they felt it was fancy. The location (and the reason I chose it) was that we had only a short time in Genoa before my husband flew out from that city, and I didn't want to spend a lot of time trying to figure out the neighborhood. Location was right in the medieval neighborhood, close to inexpensive food, within walking distance of the pier which was very nice in the evening. Also close to big shopping streets (invaluable since my suitcase broke right when we arrived in Genoa). Managed all that in just an afternoon (took a cab from the train station on arrival). I would definitely stay there again. The only issues which were less than ideal: very high gorgeous ceilings meant an internal air conditioner with the vent hose sticking out the door (air conditioning was fine for us but some might find it not cool enough). Also 2 very friendly and helpful staff appeared to be doing the work for what should have probably been a larger staff. One guy was washing the rugs in the evening and running for croissants for the morning since most of the breakfast was gone by the time we and another family got there. The receptionist was great but she seemed overworked and doing the jobs of 2 or 3 people. It would have been a challenge trying to check out with her while she also had to make cappuccinos and set out and clean up the breakfast simultaneously for a pretty large breakfast crowd. Nonetheless she had a good attitude. These slightly odd issues made me think it might be rated less than 4 stars, but the place itself and location were terrific and I am glad I chose this hotel.
