Great decor and a few suggestions; stayed 12 days.

Posted Sep 24, 2017
Pros: Decor, large-screen TV with many channels, staff, continental breakfast, location
Cons: Tables in lobby, drinking glasses in rooms, long-term stay maid service policy and drying racks, reply to internet messages.
Location: Gering and Scottsbluff are on the historic Oregon & Mormon Trails. Landmarks, museums hiking, bowling, art shows, world-class zoo, cafes, churches.
The lobby and rooms are well--appointed with western theme furniture and modern amenities: large-screen TVs, microwaves, wi-fi, good air conditioning/heating. Both heat and cooling are needed this time of the year in Nebraska. The gentleman who checked me in and provided assistance a few days later as well as Joanna (spelling?), the owner/manager, were very friendly and considerate. Unfortunately, no email address is available and the staff did not reply to a message posted on the website. The continental breakfast has lots of variety. It would be good to have a few portable tables (once called TV tables) so guests could eat and chat in the lobby. The furniture is excellent and comfortable but not well-suited for eating and drinking. There were technical problems: no hot water one day, key card failures, internet outages. The staff addressed these to the best of their ability. The policy is infrequent maid service for long-term stays: the guests need to be told this in advance, provided with extra towels and a rack for drying them. A small discount for long-term stays would be good and the room should be serviced weekly. (AIRBNB and many fancy resorts also do not provide daily service. It would be good to provide a small long-term stay discount. The room did not have a drinking glass of any kind.

The staff let us check in several hours early since we arrived early. Room was nice and clean, but the bathroom could use updating.

Wouldn't recommend this hotel and wouldn't repeat!

The room wasn't bad except for the bathtub. It apparently has been painted or coated with something that is peeling off. The room next door stunk so bad we could smell it whenever their door was open. Also their dog urinated right outside or door. Something was going on there that I did not want to explain to our granddaughter.

Condition was gross. I question whether the room was even cleaned. There was a mushroom in the bathroom sink, no toiletries in the bathroom and some leftover takeout utinsels on the coat rack. Also, it appeared that the backup battery was removed from the room's smoke detector.

Comfortable and convenient

This was a great place to spend a night, very close to restaurants and to Scotts Bluff National Monument. I would stay here again the next time I'm in the area.

Suboptimal

Moist carpet with moldy smell made stay uncomfortable. Room was moderately dirty. Bathroom door could not be closed completely. Nice shower with abundant water. No breakfast or office personnel until 9 a.m.

Location: Chimney Rock is nearby, also Scott's Bluff which is part of the Oregon Trail. Had dinner at the Log Cabin in Gering... Excellent Chicken Fried Steak!
Carolyn, the new owner, was very friendly and helpful. We had a quiet 1 night stay. The only downside is that we left a wool blanket in the room and didn't hear back as to whether they found it.
