#civilWar There's so much to see in Gettysburg, PA that it's easy to miss other photo opportunities. Across the street from the Virginia Monument in Gettysburg, there's a field.
As we were returning to our cars after visiting the Virginia Monument, I looked out at the field on the other side of the road (behind the monument). We visited Gettysburg late in the afternoon as storms began to move into the area. The clouds were reaching up to the heavens and the sun was battling to still be seen. This was the result.
#gettysburg #pennsylvania #roadtrip #nationalparks #history #travel The Gettysburg Battlefield is the area of the July 1–3, 1863, military engagements of the Battle of Gettysburg within and around the borough of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Locations of military engagements extend from the 4-acre site at Knoxlyn Ridge on the west of the borough, to East Cavalry Field on the east. A military engagement prior to the battle was conducted at the Gettysburg Railroad trestle over Rock Creek, which was burned on June 27 Battle of Gettysburg in the American Civil War This past July was the 150th anniversary reenactment of the civil war battle of Gettysburg. Over 10000 reenactors participated over 4 days. Love this place

#green There were many crucial moments in the three-day battle at Gettysburg, but none more so than the defense of Little Round Top by the 20th Maine Regiment. Many historians speculate that if the federalist would have lost at Little Round Top the Civil War of the U.S. Would have had a different outcome Following my last Gettysburg photo, this is a black & white photo of a green cannon that can launch one mile away from its target! #gettysburg Battlegrounds of Gettysburg. We raced the sundown & arrived just in time to see this memorial, so eerily beautiful at dusk A real cannon; used in one of the American Civil War battles- The Battle at Gettysburg. This particular battle is the most well known battle throughout the Confederate-Union dispute which lasted two years. This battle was one of the deadliest battles through the duration of the war. Black cannons could shoot to two miles away and green cannons could shoot to one mile away. Peaceful place to walk but show respect for the location. Beautiful magnolias in bloom. While exploring downtown Gettysburg, see this old historic log house from the outside and read info placard on its history. #Red. Sunset at a covered bridge near the Gettysburg battlefield. We left before dark...this bridge is rumored to be haunted! #Red

#battleFIELD#gettysburg#haunted In beautiful Gettysburg,pa! So much history ! Stone wall Gorgeous scenery in Gettysburg, PA. The setting sun illuminating the mountains in the distance. Hard to believe such horror happened in his beautiful place. #goldenhour There are over 1300 monuments in Gettysburg National Military Park! It was interesting seeing all the different styles and reading about the battle.
It is difficult to describe the feeling of being here. So much history, so much violence, so much sadness.....and yet a pivotal moment in the development of our country. This is a gorgeous B&B located in the heart of Gettysburg just seconds from the square! The customer service is fantastic and the rooms are impeccable. Absolutely beautiful place. Take a ranger led tour of this moving and beautiful park. The haunted dobbin house in Gettysburg

The view of Devils Den from Little Round Top. I can not imagine the feelings of the soldiers on that July second. Moving and beautiful park to explore the many monuments and info placards at the stops along the way. History buffs, Gettysburg is the place for you. Stop here during Gettysburg visit for the buffet, museum, gift shop, theater, and tours. #Gettysburg #Battlefield #Sunset Careful in the winter. It's a lil' slick. Little Round Top. Cute small downtown next to the National cemetery with shops, cafés and bars like this one. 2009 2009 My favorite location in Gettysburg and, for me, one of the most interesting battles during the Battle of Gettysburg. Rain or shine this place is beautiful but there is always a sense of sadness which is most noticeable, I feel, during a cold, rainy, fall day. #gettysburg #civilwar #pennsylvania #littleroundtop A Town full of history and good restaurants to try, we got the whole historic experience at The 1776 Dobbin House Tavern, which we recommend! Start at this visitor center for the exhibits, film, and talk to staff to plan your visit. Next door to Gettysburg battlefield, this family campground has a pool, games, playground and equestrian camping too.
