shabby and broken

When we arrived at our room, our door number had been torn off and the room number was written on the wall in pen. The door lock was inoperable. After three tries, a staff member let us in with a master key. The hotel offered a downgraded and smaller room as a replacement. We had several people staying in the suite and could not stay in a smaller room. We ended up having to have someone at the hotel let us in and out of our suite during our stay. When asked why we could not be accommodated, we were told it was because we booked through a 3rd party vendor. If a hotel makes rooms available through a vendor and a customer pays, it is reasonable to believe you will get a functional hotel room. Not impressed.
