Misrepresents Howard Johnson past reputation
Posted Nov 18, 2015
It is off season for Wyoming travel, yet we were making a late tour through the Big Horn MT's. Often high quality Motel offer deep discounts in the off season. We thought we were taking advantage of one of them. As it turned out, except that Motel 6 doesn't offer a continental breakfast, we would have done as well or better at a motel 6 with their basic but usually clean serviceable units.
This is what we found: a motel unit that was probably built in the late 70's or early 80's. This would be fine except it hasn't had any serious updates since. The tub shower, of high quality when built, lacks the safety updates such as grab bars that would protect poor balanced seniors. There are no hand holds to get out with its slick surfaces. We couldn't find any working outlets to use the coffee maker, plug in camera battery charger, or operate CD player by the bedside. At least two of them were so warn that the plugs literally fell out of their own weight. I could get no power even when holding the plug in. Carpets were showing soil. Paper around the door in bath was starting to peal.
We prepaid reservations for Friday night and Sunday night when we would return through the same area. When checking out on Saturday AM I complained of the outlets and informed them that if reassigned the same room it had better have new outlets, that if it was a different room it had better have properly functioning outlet, that if it did not I would request a refund when I checked out.
