See the pyramids from your window

Posted Apr 18, 2018
Very close to the pyramids and the new Egyptian Museum to open soon. Then you can avoid staying in Cairo, maybe go there for a day trip to see the Coptic area. This hotel has resort type grounds and pool, the city of Cairo is pretty bad.

close to the pyramids

Posted Apr 10, 2018
Pros: location
Cons: cleaning
Location: pyramids
good option for a 2-3 trip as the pyramids are really close and you can do that in one day and the next day a tour in the city. I reported a water leak in the bathroom and it was not addressed.

Needs work

Posted Mar 12, 2018
Very nice pool area, and you can see the pyramids from the 2nd floor cafe. But, unless you like lungful of cigarette smoke, the lobby, common areas, dining spaces and hallways are not for you. Hallways are carpeted in 70s era brown and orange, which looks stained and retains the pervasive smoke smell. Room was fine, if dated. Needs a modern reno. Bathroom was small but serviceable. However, grout was very discolored and shower and sink leaked. Given the area, i might give a higher rating if not for the horrible smoke issue.

Not a bad hotel

Posted Jan 14, 2018
This hotel has a lot of potential. Very nice hotel and the staff is very accommodating. Breakfast options are good. However, the hotel is located in the middle of ghetto in Cairo. Its not dangerous or anything, but the overall population in this area are the lower class. I would recommend staying on this hotel for one or two days if you are trying to see the Giza pyramids since they are very close. Other than that, after a few days got to another hotel.

Pyramid views

Posted Jan 7, 2018 on Hotels
This hotel is close to the pyramids in Giza so is great for visiting them. however the area surrounding the hotel is quite 'down at heel' and not a place for taking a stroll! The hotel itself is comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful but there are a lot of smokers in the lobby and some corridors which is unpleasant. Tired looking rooms and quite dark inside.

Not a Mercure experience, to be avoided.

Posted Jan 3, 2018 on Hotels
The hotel was derelict and certainly does not meet Mercure standards. The front desk was managed by non english speaking staff, unable to answer the most basic questions. The dinner was a bad flunch quality buffet and the hygiene was questionable. Not to lention their incapacity to find 2 non smoking rooms while we had booked 2 months in advance. On a positive note, the concierge and porters were really nice and helpful.
