Premium charged for a crummy hotel.

First off, I knew the condition of the hotel before I went there, as I had stayed there before. I picked it because it was close to my event. Old carpet, old mattress, no plug for the tub, and not even the basic toiletries. Just two bars of soap, no shampoo. It was a double queen room, with one bed up front and another in the back room. The back room was the only one with a wall mount a/c. No a/c in the front room, which meant it never got cool during the day. Again, I expected this, and would normally rate it with two stars. But I would normally expect to pay less than sixty dollars.
Well, because of it being an event weekend, rates were more than doubled. This was the case all over town, so I get it. My one request with this hotel was a late checkout. I was running a race, and wanted the extra hour so I didn't have to rush back just to check out. They wouldn't allow this as they said they only had two house keepers. I called the manager and my request fell on deaf ears. She said some house keepers quit and nothing she could do. There is something she can do, she can manage the hotel better. You don't get to more than double your rates and not offer any better service. And at least have a plug for the tub.
