Nice Country House HotelPosted Sep 23, 2015
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff. Very tasty and filling breakfast. Only used the restaurant once in the evening but steak was excellent.
Cons: Decoration was a little tired with paint peeling in places
Location: Visited Slimbridge bird reserve and Westonbirt Arboretum
A very enjoyable 4 night stay at the Stonehouse Court Hotel, near Stroud.

Very nice historical placePosted Sep 1, 2015
The hotel was built in 1601, you will feel this history while entering the building and will be pleased by the look of it. Take a drink on the terace and enjoy the view.

Wonderful staffPosted Aug 31, 2015
Pros: The old building and the grounds.
Cons: Needs an audit of things that need cleaning, or are broken and should be repaired or replaced.
Location: Woodchester Mansion is amazing
The old part of the hotel is beautiful, but the more modern rooms could do with a bit of an overhaul, particularly the bathrooms. It's worth checking whether the room you are allocated has a main corridor over it - it so, it will be incredibly noisy. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Friendly but out datedPosted Aug 22, 2015
The older building and gardens are lovely. However we were placed in their extension which felt more like uni halls than a hotel. The room was in a good size but in need of some love and the cob webs had a few of their own residents. All together a bit of a disappointment.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful settingPosted Aug 20, 2015
Pros: Excellent grounds and opportunities for long and accessible walks nearby
Cons: Description of the rooms is misleading- the rooms you are led to believe you are booking in pics are only the higher priced suites; not what you get.
Location: Plenty of walks around the canals in either direction, and lots of information from very helpful staff along with leaflets available inside.
Excellently kept groups around the hotel. Excellent food in the restaurant downstairs, howevever it was a small selection. Staff are very helpful in recommending places to visit and what to do.

Hotel Dog Charge and Unexpected feesPosted Aug 19, 2015
Pros: Location and the food was good.
Location: Lovely canal walk just at the end of the hotels garden - which was very handy for me with the dog.
Hotel was good - but I was very cross about the dog charge of £20.00 for one nights stay. Expedia did not inform me of this charge, and I would have gone elsewhere if I had been told about this. Also the room rate for us was £74.00 (Not including the dog charge) but we paid Expedia £97.00 - consequently this overnight stay cost us £111.00 - which is higher than it should have been.

Beautiful viewsPosted Aug 18, 2015
Pros: The grounds and building are beautiful. The bathroom in the room was also well presented with lovely little toiletries and a heated towel rail.
Cons: The bed was extremely soft and I sunk into it as soon as I sat on it. Better mattresses would be a great improvement.
Location: The grounds are beautiful. There is an outdoor area with tables and chair facing a big lawn, and beyond that there is a canal and roving green hills.
I visited this hotel as I was attending a wedding here. The setting of the hotel is stunning with greenery surrounding it. The building itself is also very impressive and beautiful. Overall I had a good experience at the hotel. Easy and quick check in. Breakfast was OK. Cereal, toast, jam, fruit, pastries and yoghurt was available. In addition there was a cooked breakfast menu. I ordered scrambled eggs with mine however it was bright orange and looked like a pile of mush. My husbands poached egg still had lots of uncooked egg white in it. So cooking of the hot breakfast could be a lot better. Otherwise we didn't have any problems and we would stay again.
