We booked this late but we were pleasantly surprised with the location and the welcome . The evening meal was really good with plenty of choice . Great atmosphere in the bar .Our room was clean and tidy and good value. Breakfast was again very well presented and excellent quality. A very pleasant stay and would love to visit again.

Very old hotel in the middle of the commonPosted Sep 1, 2015
Pros: The character of the hotel, friendliness of the staff, plus the food and service.
Cons: The room was quite small with few facilities. Also the bed was very low, making it quite awkward to get in and out of.
Location: The hotel is in a wonderful setting, surrounded by Minchinhampton Common, with cattle and horses grazing and far-reaching views.
The staff were very friendly and the food was good, but we were disappointed with the room and lack of facilities. One of our party is disabled and because of the lack of a lift, she found it very difficult negotiating the stairs etc. in order to get upstairs to her room. We feel that the hotel management should make it plain that it is not suitable for disabled people.

Attractive comfortable hotel beautiful settingPosted Aug 18, 2015
Pros: It's location was quite unusual and the views everywhere were wonderful. The separate dining room for wedding receptions was very attractive.
Cons: It would benefit from a little updating in places a new stair carpet would be beneficial.
Location: Near to Tetbury and Highrove and lots of other attractive and interesting villages in and around the area.
A lovely hotel set in the middle of the common, glorious views everywhere. Clean and comfortable with excellent food. All the staff were polite, friendly and happy to serve us. Would stay there again.

Cons: Change out the Eastern European staff
The hotel is located in a remote location. The food was good but not much selection. The English staff were excellent and friendly but the East European staff were not. In fact the manageress was rather arrogant. I was in the dinning room on my own and the young English staff put some music on for me. The music was not loud, but the manageress switched it down so you could not here it. You could here everyone in the bar though. Would never stay there again

Idealic LocationPosted Aug 4, 2015
Pros: The room was large and very clean.
Cons: Would probably like to see a greater choice of dinners, such as Tai Curry or King Prawn Taglateli but it's only a suggestion not a critissisum.
Location: Don't know as we were on a motor bike trip with friends and ran out of time.
Remote location in the middle of a golf course with horses and cattle roaming free. The drinks were good, selection of ales and the food was reasonable, although we had an issue with the roast lamb which the staff failed to cope with, however the beef was perfect and so was the breakfast.

A motorcyclists praisePosted Jul 12, 2015 on Hotels
I received excellent service both when I arrived and by the the staff who served my evening meal. The room was small and the bed was not the best I have sleep in but being on my own it was fine. I would like to praise the waitress Zoe who served my evening meal, she was truly a delight. Thank you all very much.

Avoid Room 5 at all costs!Posted Jul 8, 2015 on Hotels
Nice place, great breakfast but awful room! Avoid room 5 at all costs! Bed was a foot off the floor and edged with thick wood which made leveraging out difficult and uncomfortable. Also bed was pushed against the wall which made the problem even worse for my partner. Never been in such a small toilet/shower area - cant even call it a room. You sat on the toilet and your knees and feet stuck out into the bedroom. Coming out of the shower, there was nowhere to dry as you hit the sink. Very basic.
