Avoid Alila if not in a Group or an All-Meal PlanPosted Nov 14, 2015
Pros: The layout.
Cons: 1. The buggy to the beach. A small platform for older people is needed to climb in and out 2. The a la carte experience.
Location: 1. Betalbatim beach for water sports, etc 2. Nearby restaurants like Fishka and Martin's
I first went to Alila Diwa in August as part of a conference group on a full meal plan. The experience and property were lovely, so we decided to do a family holiday during the Diwali week on a continental plan. The experience was just not up to the mark 1. The front desk is not geared up. Check out took a long time and the staff was struggling with the credit card machine 2. The restaurant for a la carte. Dinner time with a la carte was a mess. They were short-staffed, the orders took a lot of time, the billing was off, the soup came after the main course, etc. 3. Breakfast buffet. When items would get over, it would take a long time for them to be replaced. 4. Buggy to the beach. There is at least a 9-12 gap between the floor of the buggy and the ground. My mom who is 76 and has trouble climbing just could not climb in or out without two people holding and supporting her. We asked for a small stool or platform multiple times, but no escalation and no one was bothered. 5. We had booked two taxis to take us to the airport. I had reconfirmed multiple times, but there was utter confusion at the time we were supposed to get the taxis. 6. Though subtle there was a bias towards non-Indians, who formed the large majority of guests. On the plus side, the staff is ever-smiling, and when not stressed, helpful and supportive

Cozy luxuryPosted Jun 16, 2015 on Hotels
Great location, just a 10 min walk from Martins Corner restaurant, 15 min walk from the beach and a great infinity pool. Food in the in-house restaurants isn't the best, especially the all-day dining. But great staff and overall a cozy place to spend a few days.

Unique location and fantastic poolPosted Mar 26, 2015 on Hotels
Lovely hotel in a unique setting amongst Padilla fields. A short walk to the beach or regular shuttle was fine please don't let this put you off. We had 2 nights and could have possibly done 4 as there was limited local things to do. Pool was the best I've seen with the most brilliant use of the infinity effect. Breakfast was good with a large variety Staff were excellent we were firstly greeted with a girl called Royce, was was extremely helpful and gave us a tour around the hotel and grounds which are a lot larger than the brochures indicate, she is also a credit to the the hotel. I would return and perhaps have a little longer next time.

BeautifulPosted Mar 16, 2015 on Hotels
It was amazing and picturesque. A small retreat in the paddy fields. It was really lush, a relaxing environment with friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again with my hubby.

Very beautiful hotel, close to the beach.Posted Mar 6, 2015
Pros: The hotel is very well kept and lovely. The beach is near and very nice and deserted with just a few beach cafes.
Cons: Only draw backs are the main restaurant that is OK but not great and the distance to anywhere else
Location: The only thing near is the beach. Thus it is not suitable for people who want to go out at night or really to see other sites.
This is a very beautiful, modern hotel with lovely gardens, nice pool and close to the beach. It has very good breakfast and the service is excellent.

Very high taxesPosted Mar 5, 2015 on Hotels
This hotel is beautiful but be aware of the high tax rate....we paid 5 taxes on our restaurant bill totaling 29 percent.
