Strange stay - no aircon?

We stayed here a couple of nights ago - I picked this spot as I heard friends say it was a nice place in Coolangatta. Beachfront with a cool bar downstairs.
The bar itself and pool are the only outstanding features of the hotel as the room itself was quite average.
The main disappointment was the fact that it had NO AIRCON. I repeat, no aircon.
We stayed in a studio room that was around $120 and they only had fans. The room gets very hot and fans simply don't cut it. I've stayed at numerous hotels around east Coast and wotif always has good deals for major hotels such as mantra - in the past I've stayed in 5 star hotels ranging from $100-$150 and all these rooms included air conditioning.
I didn't realise at the time of booking, I assumed this would be a feature included in the room as MOST hotels and motels have this.
This was pretty disappointing and I would not come back.
The 4th floor smelt like off milk - musky like the cleaner didn't do their job
The French guy at reception was truly bizarre and not the kind of person you would hire to be working the hotel. Not very professional either.
As I said earlier, for Aussies I wouldn't recommend this spot - there are far superior options in Coolangatta Area - hundreds of options. Komune is good for having a drink at the bar and a swim in the pool.
