"Lovely hotel, excellent location"
Like many buildings in Iceland, Litli Geysir is not much to look at on the outside, but inside it is smart and warm. We felt well looked after here, and would be happy to stay again. A few clarifications if you are considering this hotel.
First, the name and location. The Litli Geysir is close to the Geysir centre, but not right next to it - there is another building with a "Hotel Geysir" sign between the two. When we stayed, this other building looked very closed, so maybe this building is open in the summer only? It was a bit disconcerting, but don't worry, the Litli Geysir is also signposted, and is right next door. Also, the strokkur/Geysir area really is just across the road.
Second, restaurants. The Litli Geysir has a restaurant inside, where we ate. It was very pleasant, and they had a single vegetarian option - an Icelandic barley risotto - which was lovely. However, be aware that there is another resturant, the "Gilma" (?) which is in the Geysir centre, which looks like it has a wider range of options, including pizza. Depending on the time you visit, there is also the Supa (soup) resturant and the cafeteria style canteen, both of which will supply you with lunch.
Third, breakfast. Really good. A wide range of hot and cold options, buffet style, with good coffee. Included with our room rate and very welcome.
Fourth, tea and coffee. The rooms do not have their own kettles, but there is a little communal tea and coffee table near reception, complete with mugs.
