An Oasis by the dockside!Posted Aug 27, 2015
Pros: We liked the friendliness of the staff, especially the energetic young man who greeted us at breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: A note in the room information book regarding the TV passcode would have prevented us disturbing the receptionist.
We stayed on a one night stopover, and chose the hotel due to other positive reviews. We were not disappointed once we got into the hotel, although the surrounding area is rather bleak. Our room was large and comfortable, with views of the river from two large windows, and had all the facilities we required.

Goole and the Lowther Hotel.Posted May 10, 2015 on Hotels
I can strongly recommend this hotel. It is very well situated for easy access to the centre of Goole. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is kept very clean. The food is of high quality and in generous portions. My only suggestion for improvement is the piped music - I had to listen three times to 'I did it my way' and 'Come fly with me'! I made the staff aware of the problem. The area is as you would expect given the historical maritime basis for the town (and this was the background reason for my visit - I did not expect or wish to find myself in some select leafy locality). I found the local people I had contact with very friendly and helpful. Goole itself is an interesting town, and I left it with a very positive feeling for the place.

An oasis in the otherwise barren desert of GoolePosted Feb 24, 2015
Pros: Cheap, but reasonable / good quality. Exceeded expectations.
Cons: Advertises as free parking. The reality is a piece of semi wasteland way behind the hotel and down a rather grim side street or on street parking.
Location: Goole is frankly a grim place, one or two interesting pieces of architecture. Countryside is however very pleasant.
Actually surprisingly very nice. Surrounding area is run down and depressing but hotel is a nice building that stands out amongst the rest of the area. Well presented, clean, staff exceptional and food very good. Great value and recommended.

Enjoyable StayPosted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: The Lowther is well upholstered, clean, with welcoming staff and good food.
Cons: The chairs in the bedroom
Location: The hotel has a great history and a walk round the docks is most interesting. But it is in the docks!
Not a great location but when inside this hotel can definitely be recommended. Well upholstered, clean, welcoming staff, good food.
