a lot lacking

Posted Dec 1, 2016
The staff were great. The room was really basic lots of things missed only a bed and a dresser the refrigerator it was so small and no control to adjust it the refrigerator had ice on the coils in the back no room for much of anything. No microwave. just a basic room for that cost they did not provide even a continental breakfast or have the dinning room open for any thing there was coffee when they had happy hour and guest tours it was a zoo to many people everywhere nice setting but the rooms were not built well I could hear the very thing in the next room from a crying baby to a normal Conversation. The shower had little room. The water leaked on the floor. There was not a towel bar. So I had to hang my towel on the handicapped bar. The prospective time share owners came threw and had house keeping hopping to keep up with the mud they dragged threw the place. The place Looked great but for the price there was not the quality or amenities I have had at a much cheaper hotel. I was surprised. Even a cheap hotel puts out donuts or some thing they had only coffee. The room was lacking what other places have I could not sit in my room and do any work no desk or table there was space for it but there was a dehumidifier in there. The heat and AC worked then why have this dehumidifier? Guests not being told where to toss trash would leave bags of garbage out side their doors I never saw this at any resort before. I liked that they did not go in my room everyday privacy a+.

Way better than any "hotel" for the cost!

Posted Nov 28, 2016
Pros: We loved everything about this accommodation!
Cons: Here and there things could use a little maintenance. Nothing to make a fuss over.
Location: There is nothing to do nearby. This hotel is in the boondocks. But that is part of what makes it wonderful!
Found this resort by accident looking for a hotel for two days in this vicinity. For what you would pay for a hotel suite we booked this totally autonomous log cabin in a woodland setting, with two BR, full bath, full KIT & LR with wood burning fireplace! The property has this type of accommodation as well as yurts (yes yurts), regular main-building type hotel rooms and even RV and tenting on the property. They also have horseback riding, both indoor and outdoor (seasonal) pools and spas, a game room and on and on. The kicker is you'd pay just as much for a nice hotel! CONS: The only minor cons are that the buildings (at least the unit we stayed in) are a little dated as of this writing. Paint chipping, things a little worn, etc. But really nothing to make a fuss over. The horse riding as noted is only for beginners. TIPS: Buy firewood from the local sawmill which is just down the main road. Buying it at the on site general store it is way overpriced. If you are a pool player, bring your own cues. Horse riding is strictly entry level stay-in-line trail riding only. No self guided, nothing over a walk, etc. Don't laugh... do yourself a solid and rent a yurt. Seriously. They are fully appointed, applianced, heated and fascinating. This ain't Ghengis' old tent!

Beautiful and Quiet

Posted Nov 15, 2016
Pros: I loved the staff, the decorations, the cleanliness, and most of all the setting.
Cons: Coffee in the main lobby in the morning time would be really nice.
This is a very well maintained property about 40-45 minutes away from Charlottesville. The property is gorgeous and there is plenty to see while walking or driving the property. For anyone who loves the outdoors but does not like to rough it, the hotel and cabins are ideal. I do think there are camp grounds on site if one wants to camp in a more traditional way. I was here in the fall in the first week of November which is a perfect time to see the fall colors and enjoy the cool crisp fall weather.

Off the beaten path but well worth the drive

Posted Nov 7, 2016
Pros: The views from the lobby and our room were outstanding. Great view of the pool, the river, with the mountains in the backgound.
Cons: New carpeting and more comfortable furniture in the dining room.
Location: Great location for families with young children. Nature trails abound and the horse farm is great. Hiking trails everywhere.
The lodge where we stayed is quite old but very clean. Carpeting is worn. That said, the staff at check in and check out was excellent. The bar and wait staff were also excellent. Our room was excellent and clean . The bathroom is dated but it was clean and certainly acceptable.

Beautiful cabins!

Posted Oct 23, 2016
We rented a three-bedroom cabin and it was beautiful. It had a master bedroom with its own bathroom and two other bedrooms - one with two double beds, the other with two single beds. There was a full bath near those bedrooms and another half bath by the kitchen area. The living room was so nice for relaxing, including a nice TV and fireplace. The kitchen had everything you could want, including a small washer/dryer. In the back there's a nice deck with a big grill. We were there on a pretty fall day and we wished we could have stayed longer. It would be a perfect place for a family reunion. We also didn't have a chance to take advantage of all the fun activities offered - horseback riding, minigolf, boating. Really great!

We love Shenandoah Crossings!!!

Posted Oct 17, 2016
We have stayed here several times. Once as a young engaged couple, then for our wedding at the Manor House and now again as a family of 5. The resort never disappointed! We rented a golf cart for the day for $60 and it made our time, with two toddlers, even more enjoyable. There are so many different activities that we are planning to come back next year for a multi family vacation. I would recommend to anyone!

Very nice place. Perfect for couples. There is no breakfast place in a main building. Just free coffee.
