Lovely hotel. Clean. Friendly staff. Great food. No frills. Very very quiet. For the price we paid this was an Excellent hotel. Well worth a stay. The country is also beautiful and worth a visit. The locals are all very friendly. Overall will definitely be looking to go back and book again here.

Great Viking Ship Stay!

Posted Oct 2, 2017
We had an amazing 4 nights at this hotel and it was incredible. Really close to the centre so we could easily walk and and great transport links. The staf were really friendly, except for one male member of staff who was quite rude when we explained that we were supposed to have a hairdryer in our room and we didnt have one. Not the end of the world but we hadnt brought one as we were told there would be one in our room. He was very dismissive and not helpful at all. In the morning however, a female member of staff sorted the problem out and we came back to a hairdryer in our room! The breakfast was amazing, lots to choose from and everything was freshly cooked and kept warm/cold. Everything was clean and there were members of staff on hand to help out if needed. You can also go up onto the top deck and that was lovely as well. Lots of the original features have been left there so you can really get into the theme! There is a bar up there but we were out most of the time so we didnt experience that. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Gothenburg!

Everything shipshape!

Posted Sep 15, 2017
Pros: Cleanliness and attention to detail, beds made to look very smart and inviting, very important for a discerning wife!
Cons: Access on cobbled paving attractive, but gave the trolley luggage a bit of a challenge. More of a Port Authority issue really.
Location: Very close to the Railway Station easy pedestrian access to Operahouse and other sights of note.
Wonderfully novel experience, clean, neat and tidy, in fact everything Ship shape. Very friendly, accommodating staff, surprisingly quiet, a great night's sleep, a generous breakfast buffet choice. We shall definitely recommend to friends and family!

very easy to find

Posted Sep 14, 2017
Pros: very easy to find, get off one stop before the bus/train station go across the road into the mall out the otherside up the esculator and look right
Cons: the bed not very comfortable
Location: nice harbour walk, loads of food and clothes shops
if you like a different place to stay then this is for you, very little is level, the slope from my room door to the wall is noticeable a half full bottle of water got quite a speed up when I did a roll test. The bed not the most comfortable thing I have slept on, whether it was the slope, but its amazing how far you have slipped down the bed whilst sleeping. the room is very quiet however the second floor is just below the deck and sound would carry if there was a party on board.

Really well located for the main shopping centre and train station. Quirky hotel that is different from other options, but be prepared that the rooms are quite small and basic, and that the porthole windows don't open. Breakfast is great

Great stay on the water and close to train station. Take the tunnel under the street to the mall and the elevated walkway across the road interchange and your there.

Comfy beds - good night sleep

Great hotel. Good location once you get your bearings. Staff were all really friendly and accommodating. We stayed for one night, beds were soft but comfy. Would have liked tea and coffee available in our rooms but that is my only comment.

Very disappointing in all areas

Posted Jul 22, 2017
Pros: Location was fine
Cons: Staff, cleanliness, noise level
Was really excited to stay at Hotell Barken Viking but sadly felt very let down. Apart from the person at the reception desk, we barely saw any members of staff for our entire visit - at breakfast both mornings there were no staff members visible, and nobody to therefore refill plates of food at the buffet when they were empty. Meant that our breakfast was very poor. The room where breakfast was held was also very dirty. One day when we were there there was a children's party going on in the room above our bedroom - the noise was horrendous but there was nobody around for us to speak to. When we checked out, we were not asked how our stay was - probably because they knew what the answer would be. Would definitely not recommend.

Viking King!!!

This is good place to stay and also had some novelty factor. The room is good and breakfast was excellent. It was nice to sit up on deck in the evening and watch the sun set - also close to train station and centre
