Terrible experience

Posted Aug 19, 2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
We were not given a non-smoking room. The front desk person who checked us in was not truthful about the room. The pool was not filled; we were told that it had not been available since January, but they did not want to publish this information because it would cause potential customers to stay somewhere else.

Close to I80

Pros: Clean and comfortable. Room had a nice large refrigerator.
Cons: Ramp at the side door, larger entry door with sliding doors, faster WiFi.
Location: Unknown. We were just passing through.
Clean, comfortable, affordable room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included. Probably the best tasting biscuits and gravy we've had on the road. (hint: microwave the biscuits for 10 seconds first.) Overall, a good value for the price.

place to sleep on the way to Colorado

Posted Jul 19, 2015
Pros: location, price
Cons: cleanliness, repair of pool
Our first room had an unclean bathroom. We asked for it to be cleaned or for a new room and were given a new room. The beds were comfortable and it was quiet. The pool is closed for several months for repairs which was disappointing. The breakfast was what you would expect, nothing more or less. We needed a place to sleep on the way to Colorado and we got it.

Nice, Quiet and Clean

Posted Jul 6, 2015
Cons: An alert that the pool is out-of-service.
Location: a good stopping over place on the way to the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Our stay at the Gothenburg Howard Johnson was a pleasant one. The desk help was very good. We needed some help with a recommendation for an area restaurant that would be able to accommodate my wife who is seliac (gluten-free required) and the young lady at the desk was able to point us in the right direction. The breakfast room was very adequate with bagels, cereal and milk, waffle maker, and even biscuits and gravy. It's a motel that I would recommend.

Okay if there are no other options.

The room was adequate. The door to the room did not fit the frame correctly and had to loudly slammed into order to open and shut.
