One night

Was just for the night. On the 1st floor so there wasn't a view, only rocks. Didn't expect much of a view but flowers instead of rocks would be nice. Told them as we checked in not to waste a good view on us since we were only there the night. The bed was amazing!!!!! Room was very clean and staff was extremely nice and helpful.

Not a 5-star hotel any longer

Great location for those who want to be close to La Rambla and the Old city, but hotel facilities are old and shabby. The lobby is small and resembles a 3-star city hotel; it gets crowded during the checkin/checkout time.

Horrible service and room

We were assured we'd have a king bed several times prior to our across the world trip. Once there, we were told that no kings were available but only two twins for a 6'4 man and his wife. The front desk manager was extremely rude and condescending. After standing in the lobby for a good 30 minutes and her realizing I wasn't leaving until I got a refund, which she laughed at and refused, or an appropriate room she miraculously found one. The room was definitely not up to par with a five star hotel with paper thin walls which allowed us to listen to a very unhappy baby screaming. There are so many other five star hotels within the center of Barcelona to choose instead. Never this hotel again.

DID NOT allow SPG because I booked via Hotels.com

The room they put us in was supposed have a city view - I knew that, that meant maybe not the best room in the house. But I expected more the a skinny window I had to strain to get at looking at an Air conditioner and garbage can. But still without the basic 5 * amenities. When the Hotels.com App asked me about my check in etc. I hit the "sad" button. AND WOW! I had a manager phoning me trying to make things right. (Yea Hotels.com!) In the morning they moved us to a "newly renovated" room. While it had a much better view, it was way worse in its design. NO place to put a suitcase. The "old" room had place to put "old" style suitcases, but not anywhere for hard sided clamshells. The newer "redesigned" room had nowhere to put even one of our suitcases. It did not have a place to put ANY thing wider then a roll on. Out of about a 20 Square meter room the "new" design wasted about 4 Square meters just "jogging" around the bathroom. This space could have been saved (and used for a proper place to lay down a newer design of suit case) in entrance way by just moving the entrance door. My guess is that, that would have screwed up the hallway/atrium look. So no go. Location: Great, Service: Great, Rooms: Suck. Some architect should be fired. I have built hotels: I wonder if some of the idiots that have designed them have ever stayed in one.

As a result, residing on the iconic Las Ramblas, our protected historical building constricts in terms of space and may not offer breath taking views from all the rooms, but instead captures the residential feel of our centuries-old quarter and its lively atmosphere. For future stays, I would recommend you one of our Suites that provide you with extra space to accommodate your needs depending on your type of trip.
