Sunset Crater, a volcano near Flagstaff is an interesting place to hike. The volcano is surrounded by miles of lava flow. According to the plaque this is #gothic style #church #architecture constructed of native volcanic rock and completed in 1930. #roadtrip The famous Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. This is where Percival Lowell discovered Pluto, and where he also studied, among other things, the perceived canals on Mars.
This is barely ten-fifteen minutes' drive from downtown Flagstaff and is worth the trip. You can view some of the brighter deep sky objects and planets through the various fixed telescopes at the site, and they sometimes also deploy various smaller, more accessible scopes as well.
You pay a small fee and get access to the scope viewing, as well as some great lectures by the staff on beginner astronomy. Woods Coconino National Forest 🌲 #flagstaff #arizona #architecture #roadtrip Proper is a great meat/cheese shop and sandwich shop. They have all sorts of sandwiches, wonderful soups, and some tasty locally brewed beers. First rate for a light lunch. In a neighborhood adjacent to a Wyndham resort, there was a vacant lot that was home to an interesting variety of wildflowers. My experience is mostly in the Blue Ridge of North Carolina, so I do not have a name for these flowers. ID sought! The place is a little small only 19 seats in all. Although, the speed and friendliness is top notch. We ordered and got the margarita pizza before we could even think about when our food was coming? Overall I wouldn't ordinarily go through because it's small and intimate I would think this is a good place to take someone on a date. Great pizza great night. Where nature and charm brings you into a world of solace. #weekendgetaway Beautiful brilliant aspens burst forth with a snow capped Humphrey's peak, providing a dramatic backdrop. It made for a great day hike! Love Flagstaff! #TakeAHike Signs! Signs! Signs! What's the next stop? :) #Arizona #Flagstaff #VisitArizona #TakeAHike Flagstaff, Arizona At the hualapai territory in Arizona # roadtrip One of my favorite Hostels......
Nothing like grabbing a private room with bath for $40 odd bucks.
WIFI, breakfast and fruit avail. Not to mention all the interesting people I've met.
Brewery right around the corner and good food no matter which way you wander.
#weekend getaway A hotel with a cool sign I didn't have time to stop by and explore it's history however :(. Call it speed trovering. A gorgeous late snowfall in March made downtown Flagstaff look like a Rockwell painting. Tree hugger for life #streetart #stickers in #Flagstaff, AZ If you pass through Flagstaff, check out this place: steaks, singing waiters, and antiques all set in an Old West themed establishment. The sour dough pan biscuits with cinnamon butter was the best! Telescope that discovered Pluto #springfun Such an amazing view while driving up to the Grand Canyon. Good brew and good grub. Need a spot to eat in Flagstaff? Check out the Galaxy Diner, with great food and an even better atmosphere! Beautiful small city with a lot of good place to have a beer or a real american breakfast!🇺🇸 Out on the road leaving the Navajo Nation and heading towards Flagstaff, AZ. Look at those peaks 😍 Station and Visitor Center. Mural at the train station. In the middle of the desert , you can also find some snow . How amazing is that ?? This place is 3 hours from Phoenix Az . Most people tend to skip this . You have cable cars to reach the highest summit . # snow #cablecar #hike #desert #trees #bestviews
