Best Hotel on thenBeach

Posted Mar 12, 2017
Beach was fantastic, food good and staff very friendly and helpful! Rooms were ok, nothing fancy but clean. We walked down beach past most other hotels and Westin was by far best beach and pool.

Beach is great, service needs improvement

Posted Mar 4, 2017
Pros: The beach
Cons: Service
One of the best beach locations for a hotel. There were plenty of chairs and umbrellas even when you come down later in the day. The service on the beach is really great. We have stayed at lesser hotels and had much better service. The room was fine but just a place to stay. This was not a welcoming hotel and when we did have a problem we had to call 3 times and visit the front desk staff (that did not help us). We don't have crazy high expectations but we do expect good service especially at this price point. We were yelled at by a staff member and ignored by our waiter the first day. The checkout was the most painful checkout I've experience in a long time and I didn't have any complaints.

Wonderful staff / right on the ocean

Posted Mar 3, 2017
Pros: Staff, beach, floatables in the ocean, beach bar.
Cons: Room accommodations. It smelled a bit of urine in our room. The sheets were crunchy/scratchy. Pillows were not very soft.
Location: Loved location. Enjoyed restaurants nearby, Yoshi Sushi and Sunshine Grill.
We had a wonderful experience at the Westin and enjoyed the beach, pool and floats in the water that were provided by the hotel. It was nice to have and abundance of beach chairs available and even during the busy days, the staff would always have another set of chairs to set up for you. Water was crystal clear. Concierge was helpful in providing us details for excursions including swimming with the stingrays, going to Rum Point and visiting the Crystal Caves. The hotel room was ok, but nothing to write home about. The sheets were a little crunchy, pillows not that comfortable and the room smelled a bit. It was livable, but I would have thought the beds would have been a bit more comfortable. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

Staff are unfriendly and unhelpful. Beach is great

Posted Feb 8, 2017
Pros: better beach
Cons: staff are unhelpful and miserable for the most part. of course there is a couple of nice ones in the mix
Location: Great location on seven mile.
Staff were the worst part of this place. Pools all nice and new just needed better cleaning. Rooms are old and cleaning was very poor i heard that reno starts may 2017 so hopefully they get staff improvement to. Beaches are great at this part of seven mile especially when storms blow up lots of seaweed it was cleaner here. We also stayed a week at the Marriott and the thing they had was incredibly friendly helpful and caring staff.

Hotel Stay

Posted Feb 8, 2017
Pros: beach
Cons: update rooms
Location: plenty of water sports to engage in. Georgetown is to be avoided when there are 3 to 6 cruise ships in the harbor
The facility was fine. Beach is great The lobby reconstruction is good however the we were in is a bit dated

Decent hotel. 3 stars. Wouldn't stay there again

Posted Jan 20, 2017
The hotel looks nice inside and out but it's not worth the money. Two days into our trip the small things started getting annoying. Things like bottled water. Two per room isn't enough and the hotel's coffee shop closed at 6 pm. We ended up drinking a few of the $8 bottles they leave in the room. Housekeeping staff finally made it to our room around 4 pm each day - quite a bit later than we'd prefer. Our room smelled like mildew half the time so we had to open the patio door to air it out. Water was yellow and smelled upon first turning on the faucets after being off overnight. No exhaust fan in the bathrooms. Small things like these are what keep the Westin from being 4 or 5 star.

The Beach is Great, the service is terrible.

Posted Jan 6, 2017
The beach is terrific and the hotel is comfortable, and the amenities are good, but the service at this hotel is terrible. Often we had no towels or ice at our cabana, the concierge didn't make dinner reservations we requested (and didn't bother to inform us), a note to the hotel manager inquiring about the possibility of a menorah for the many Jewish families staying over the holidays went unanswered, the front desk was clearly overwhelmed and had consistently long lines, the kids club "forgot" to order lunch for our youngest child who opted to spend the morning there ....

Staff Needs Diversity Training

Posted Jan 2, 2017
Pros: The room was comfortable (recently renovated). The grounds were well kept. Some members of staff were very pleasant. Beach was great with lots to do.
Cons: Hotel should provide diversity training for its workers, with emphasis on how to treat guests who are not of Caucasian descent.
Location: Great location, close to the airport, shops and restaurants. Very safe area.
Let me preface with "not all the staff members who I came in contact with need diversity training". Some members of staff need diversity training on how to treat guests that do not fit the typical "guest" profile if you know what I mean. My family is of African descent and spent 4 nights at the Westin for our Christmas vacation. We paid for one of the best rooms in the hotel, one overlooking the pool and the beach. On several occasions though, we were treated like lower class, treated like we didn't even exist while waiting for service. We even had members of staff question whether we were staying at the Westin ( maybe in their mind black folks can't afford to stay there). And this is NOT A RACIST thing, it happened with both black and white members of staff. Some of them just don't know how to deal with guests that ARE NOT of Caucasian descent. I remember standing in line trying to reserve a water sport activity, a white man walked up (after my family was already standing in line), however, the female at the desk raising up out of her chair, extending her neck to offer assistance to the man with blatant disrespect to my family, acting like we didn't exist even though we were ahead of this man waiting patiently. (Maybe she is not a hotel employee, but of Red Sail Sports) Should I ever travel the Cayman Islands again, the Westin would not be on my list of places to stay. It makes me wonder if I should ever consider this brand as part of my future travel plans
