Beautiful viewsPosted Jul 19, 2015
Pros: The furniture. Nicely decorated with regional art.
Cons: Would be nice if the front desk was open longer.
Location: Grand Marais. Lots of shops, lots of restaurants.
Views of Lake Superior except from one of the bathrooms (we had two bathrooms). Fun to sit on the balcony and look at the Lake. Nice furnishings. Clean.

Nice hotel and close to the snowmobile trails.Posted Mar 10, 2015
Pros: Location. It was close to town and trails.
Cons: Temperature control of rooms.
Location: Dining was not a problem and close to state trails.
The thing that was uncomfortable was the room temperature. It was very warm for sleeping and we could not find a thermometer to turn it down.

Nice place to get away to for the weekend. Dog friendly suite was key for us to be able to make this happen.

Be careful. The pictures dont match the rooms.Posted May 12, 2014
Cons: Expedia and East Bay Suites need to align their pictures with the actual rooms.
Based on the pic, I expected to have a bedroom, a living area, a dining area and kitchen. What was actually reserved and paid for was a bedroom and kitchenette. For an additional amount, I was upgraded but please be careful...the pics dont match all the units. Additionally, I had no idea that we actually rented a condo, not a hotel room.

Tourist trap and Dive- Don't botherPosted Nov 8, 2012
Cons: the smell
Location: Wisconsin Street, downtown Grand Marais, MN.
The service and attitude of the help was terrible. The check in person was snobbish and forgot to call me when the room was finally ready. Even with an empty parking lot -the room wasn't ready for early check-in. When they did tell me it was ready I had to watch a handyman outside my window for an hour. The building stunk literally, the smell, I couldn't quite place but it was dis-pleasant enough. I decided to leave the access card on the table and check in down the road at a different hotel. All in all- a floppy DIVE with a fancy name. The town is beautiful but hardly worth a trip up the North Shore to visit- Grand Marais is just another tourist trap.

East Bay Suites a Winner!Posted Mar 22, 2012
Location: Outstanding. Right on the beach of Lake Superior in Grand Marais,MN
We were visiting the East Bay Suites for the first time with our two Golden Retrievers. Located on the beach of Lake Superior in Grand Marais, MN. We were delighted with the size of the rooms in our suite as well as the cleanliness . The decor was up to date and the furnishings modern and comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied with pots and pans, dishes, towels etc. The bedroom had a king size bed and a huge window with a view of the lake. The living room had a fireplace, comfortable couch and two chairs. The bathroom had a tub and a shower and was quite roomy. The staff was super friendly and accomodating. They are a pet friendly hotel and we and our dogs felt very welcome and appreciated. They also had a common area with a fireplace, games, and DVD's that we could borrow free of charge and return when we were done with them. We highly recommend this suites hotel.
