Central location - ideal for city break

Posted Nov 16, 2017
Pros: The look, interior decor, architecture and the general cleanliness of the hotel.
Cons: Rooms need upgraded - provide kettle, ironing board, iron and gown and slippers for guests. There needs to be a Concierge service.
Location: Great location - city centre, next to the Metro Station, However, roadworks were taking place outside the hotel which could be heard on 2nd Floor.
My friend and I booked this trip to Brussels for 5 nights - a city break. The hotel itself is in a great location - in the centre of town next to a Metro Station. City Centre was literally a 2 min walk from the hotel. The hotel itself was very nice - aesthetically. Be aware that there are roadworks which are being carried out and we heard them in the first morning of our stay (2nd Floor). We moved room to the 5th Floor which was a better room and looked like it had been refurbished. The facilities at the hotel are not great - no concierge service provided when arriving or leaving the hotel - we struggled with taking our luggage in and out of the hotel on our own and no offer of help by staff, There was no kettle, gown, slippers or ironing board provided, We had to ask for these and had to also ask for a heater as the room's heating was not working one night. The hotel itself is exquisite from the inside but the rooms themselves are not 5* quality. My friend and I agreed that the rooms would be a 4* at a push. But still we had a pleasant trip - very central and easy to get around. The Restaurant was amazing - the food was really tasty however, it was on the expensive side.

Pros: Very fancy - it's a bit worn but in a well maintained way rather than a cheap way. Very large room, even the most basic one.
Cons: Breakfast price and quality, internet speeds (it was pretty much unusable - mobile data was better)
Location: City centre location, very convenient - Brussels is very small so easy to walk to everything there and easy to jump on the metro to get to Atomium etc
We got a very good deal using expedia, so very happy with the hotel for what we paid. Very good location and room. We don't recommend paying for the breakfast, it was very expensive but not very impressive compared to what you would get for less in a budget hotel (we got it for our last day in the hope we could fill up and not have to buy food at the airport but we wished we'd just gone for a stack of waffles from a street stall instead)

Pictures better than reality

Posted Nov 10, 2017
Pros: grand building
Cons: most things
Location: Location is good, next to metro, close to the main square and some good bars. Lots of road works outside but not far from finished
Its a historic building but for hotels there very little in terms of facilities. There are no tea and coffee facilities in the room and no breakfast or bar on site in the morning. The bar is expensive and food is ok but very expensive. Rooms are big, comfy but worn. Overall expected a quality hotel, didnt get one.

Dear Alan, Thank you very much for sharing your feedback following your recent stay at Hotel Métropole. It is a great pleasure to read that you fully enjoyed it especially regarding our historical building, our central location in Brussels and the comfortable room allocated to you. Regarding the breakfast, we have two solutions offered to our guests: the first one is the 'buffet breakfast' that you can take in our breakfast room ' Le Jardin Indien' ; the second one is the 'Express Breakfast' that you can have in our Café Métropole. Moreover, we have well noted your suggestions about tea and coffee facilities and have transferred to our F&B Department. About the work in the front, we can only apologize about it. Indeed it is an initiative of the city of Brussels to improve and make more attractive the city center for the pedestrian. We do hope to welcome you back soon. Kind regards. The Management.

This is a stunning Art Nouveau building beautifully maintained with efficient and very pleasant staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay made more so by the kind attentions of staff at all times.

good location but that is it.

Posted Nov 6, 2017
The place is in a state if disrepair just operating on former glory. Taps leak, furniture stained. Location is very convenient but there are others in the area that may not be so run down. I was there last year also and have seen a significant decline even since then. I will be back in Brussels in March but not in this hotel.

Nice hotel where I stay often. It lacks a little but has a lot to offer in terms of comfort, Decor and proximity to shops and st Catherine’s place with lots of restaurants. A 10 minute walk gets you to the Grande Place. Breakfast is fundamentally unmanned, where even your tea and coffee comes from a machine, this is unfortunate when you consider the waiter service given to non residents on the front terrace facing the road works. It would be nice to see the same service at breakfast.

Gorgeous lobby, but very dated

The rooms need a lot of updating. It all just feels caught in time and lots of little scuff marks from years of neglect.
