Don't stay here

Posted Aug 22, 2017
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: Everything!
Location: Although the area around the hotel is run down Downtown Grand Rapids was lots of fun. Hotel is in close proximity to Lake Michigan.
Where do I start? The hotel staff was not welcoming upon arrival. The check-in experience was actually a little awkward. The hotel smelled old, musty and smoky. Once I entered the room, I was shocked by how absolutely disgusting and deplorable the conditions were. It was filthy almost everywhere we looked. The walls were stained with red, yellow, all different color stains. Wallpaper was peeling. Ceiling in bathroom had stained tiles due to water damage. The lamp shade looked like it had been in a fight. The couch was so badly stained that it was not fit for human or animal. We contemplated leaving, but were exhausted after walking in the sun all day and all other hotels in town were completely booked. The bed sheets and linens were clean and the bathroom counter area seemed all right, so we figured we would tough it out for one night. How bad could it be, right? Wrong. I barely slept on the mattress with poking springs. I didn't feel safe in the area the motel was in. I woke up the next morning to find a roach right on the bathroom counter and various other bugs crawling around that had come out once the lights were out. I was so disgusted that I threw my clothes on as fast as I could, didn't shower, and nearly ran out of the place. We will never be back. This place should be shut down. It is not fit for anything living, not even for my worst enemy! The websites that we use should have a minimum criteria for hotels to be on there site! Bad on me for not reading the reviews

Pros: I liked nothing about it
Cons: everything!!
The hotel smelled like a mixture of smoke, vomit, body odor..I used purell under my nose to get rid of the awful smells. I was wiping stuff ( I don't even want to know what it was) off the walls, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, ever!!! Even the locals were apologetic when they heard where we were staying, one local called it "seedy"!! We stayed one night too many and cancelled the rest of my stay and moved to a different hotel that was perfect.

Dont Waste Your Money

Cons: Everything!
Specifically booked this hotel because it advertised indoor pool with hot tub, which was a nice thought in winter. Got to hotel and pool and hot tub were out of service. That should be explained somewhere on booking. The hotel was very run down, smelled bad everywhere! The whole hotel was down for maintenance everywhere we looked. Hotel also advertised exercise facilities. That was also not in service. The area was bad, not knowing Grand Rapids area, I booked and should not have. Very disappointed. Staff was not that friendly, very strange check in. No remote for our tv, called down to get one took over an hour.
