Unfortunate customer service by one staff member

We were happy with all aspects of our stay. The pet friendly rooms were perfect staff check in great breakfast good.
We asked on day 2 to have housekeeping done and mentioned 'dogs'. We subsequently were dressed down for not understanding and complying with their rule of pets up to 40 lbs but also 1 per room. We were quite open when checking in and paraded two mini dachshounds I. Front of clear. Together the dogs don't crack 20 lbs. we also carted in two crates. We were basically accused of trying to get away with something and told next time we were in the area we could not stay with them. We were flabbergasted. We are happy to comply given there are many other options. Unfortunate however since overall hotel was good.
We did not find the hotel to really be overall pet friendly and the main day clerk certainly e en less people friendly.
