Good hotel for a one or two night stay.

Posted Jan 8, 2017
We had a room with a king sized bed. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious and clean. My only complaint is that the bathroom was extremely small and there was no sink inside the bathroom. The water pressure in the shower was very low as well We ordered the breakfast in our package and I absolutely wish I hadn't. The breakfast food in the restaurant was horrible. Took one bite of bacon and couldn't chew it so I spit it out… The eggs tasted greasy like they were made on a griddle that wasn't cleaned and the potatoes were tasteless and rubbery. I tasted everything but didn't eat anything. Overall, it was a good experience for a night or two. The staff was friendly and professional and, most importantly, the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom and shower would prevent me from staying there longer.

I have passed your comments along to our head chef for review as this is not what I expect from our restaurant! We hope to welcome you back again soon!

A good hotel!

Posted Dec 6, 2016
Cons: A variety of soft and a bit more firm pillows for those of us who like the support.
The staff was very pleasant. The rooms were clean as was the rest of the hotel that I saw. The beds were very comfy, however the pillows were too soft for my liking. There was ample parking and the location was good, several points of interest and restaurants were within walking distance. The hotel is located next to a freeway so they give out complimentary ear plugs and/or a white noise machine which was ingenious!!! All in all it was a great place to stay!!

Disappointed based on the price

Location: The location was good with lots of breweries within walking distance. You are certainly paying for location and not room comfort
The temperature controls didn't work. They did get them fixed the next day. It was one of the more expensive hotels downtown but had minimal space in the bathroom.

Erica, I am so sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay at the Holiday Inn Grand Rapids Downtown. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you again, and serve you better, in the future. Travel tip: Our King Executive rooms offer much more floor space AND bigger bathrooms! Safe travels!

Excellent location for ArtPrize visit Only downside was the appearance and cleanliness of the cafe. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Service was scarce.

Great access to downtown for a fantastic price!

We found the holiday inn Grand Rapids downtown to meet all our needs. Can't figure out why this is rated a 3 star hotel- staff and facilities are top notch. Our breakfast was fresh, delicious and made to order! Our grandson was greeted each morning at breakfast like a dignitary and Breakfast was served with style. Right across the street from the Gerald Ford museum and Grand Rapids Public museum. A short walk across the river and you are downtown! Quick walk to the children's museum and a 10 minute drive to the John Ball Zoo, Heritage Park neighborhood and the Whitecaps Minor league stadium. We loved every minute of our stay and plan to return!

Nice rooms. Clean and comfortable. Was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go. Will be back in a few months! Food at Pearl St grill was gross.

Solid choice for a business trip.

Posted Apr 21, 2016
Pros: The lobby and facilities were relatively modern, and the location was convenient.
Cons: I hate to be critical, but the restaurant/cafe downstairs (not the bar) was terrible for lunch.
Location: This is right across the street from the Gerald Ford Museum, if you're into that sort of thing. You're also about a 10-15 min. walk away from brewery
I was visiting Grand Rapids for a business conference, and decided to stay somewhere close to the conference center just over the bridge. When I first checked-in, the room I was assigned had not been cleaned and was still in disarray from the last guest in the room. They apologized and assigned me another room on the 7th floor. The room accommodations were what I'd expect from a 3-star hotel - nothing special, but it got the job done. The only complaint was that, because of the location, there was the constant sound of being right next to the highway. Nothing ear plugs can't fix, but something to consider if you're a light sleeper. Other than that, if I was on a budget I'd certainly stay here again. The cleaning staff and other folks in the hotel were very friendly. The view is actually pretty great as well.

Hi Aaron, Thank you for posting your candid review about your stay at the Holiday Inn Grand Rapids Downtown. I am so terribly sorry to hear about the mix-up with your original guest room, but glad the front desk was able to straighten it out for you. While we at the Holiday Inn love the sounds of our busy city, we understand that they're not for everyone. The front desk not only has ear plugs for our guests that may be sensitive to noise, but we have white noise machines for our guests to borrow as well! We hope to see you again the next time you visit Grand Rapids. Safe travels!
