Good location, but dated hotel.Posted Oct 7, 2015
No shower curtain in my bathroom. Square (decorative couch-style) pillows rather than traditional pillows. Was not expecting much for the price, but thought these amenities were a given.

Great staff, so-so building, bad neighborhoodPosted Oct 5, 2015
Everything about my stay was excellent until I was getting ready to check out. The staff was very friendly, my room was completely clean, and my son loved the water park and arcade. About 45 minutes before I checked out, I was washing my hands in the bathroom when I heared the toilet above me flush, and the toilet water started dripping on my head. The staff was apologetic, and some compensation was offered to me. When I got out to my car in the parking lot, I saw that someone had broken into my car overnight and stolen my rear view mirror and my sons blanket. If this hotel had more updated plumbing and was in a better neighborhood it would be perfect, but that unfortunately is not the case.

Ramada in Grand Rapids was Terrible experiencePosted Sep 28, 2015
Hotel switched me (single) to a family room prior to arrival...room was run down, no window, phone & TV did not work & staff did not clean my room the first day. When I asked for someone to fix TV, the maintenance man tried, was unsuccessful and did not pursue or explain to me that he had given up. When I asked for a room swap, hotel was accommodating despite being full. A subsequent 1AM party in the hallway with drunk people fighting (using expletives) went on for a while my last evening. On return trips to GR, I will not return or recommend hotel to friends.

Cons: Customer Service - Cleanliness
Front desk staff gave us the wrong room at first. When we went back to let them know there was another family in front of us that was given a room with someone in it already! We were never greeted at all from any of the staff when returning or leaving the hotel. Lots of people hanging out in front of the hotel smoking and parking lot was always full of trash. I asked for the reserved rate for the tennis tournament in town and was told they couldn't honor it since I made the reservation already. No customer service at all

Pros: My kids enjoyed the pool, when it wasn't closed for "cleaning" at high peak hours, very odd.
It was kind of an up & down experience. I feel like the overall look of the hotel was decent, you can tell some upgrades have been made but things like walls & tiles have not been addressed. The hotel staff that I dealt with was very nice. They have some strange rules about fire code though. We had 6 kids & 4 adults total, in adjoining rooms. The 2 beds in each room are VERY small & thus not enough room for 3 kids in 1 bed, as they told me we should do. The 2nd room had enough room to park a car in but they kept telling us that fire code would not permit them to allow for a roll away bed. But after much complaining, they did finally allow ONE roll away so my 10 year old slept on a an awful bed of 2 chairs pushed together the first night. The kids liked the pool/waterslide area but after seeing the cloudy, green water, I did not get in. The pool was also closed at peak hours for 30-60 minutes at a time for "cleaning" but no one was actually doing anything to it which seemed strange. There was a lack of checking for breakfast coupons during breakfast. Since they did not have someone asking for coupons right at the entrance, they should just give in & include breakfast in the price of the room. It was ok, overall, but I wouldn't spend the same amount of money to go back there, if ever.

Great For Wanna Be CruisePosted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: The three-story high water slide will provide thrills god the young at heart in your group
Location: A 15 minute drive takes you to downtown Grand Rapids, Grand Valley College and several other college facilities. Meijer's Garden is about 10 minutes.D
The cars go right past the parking lot plus the lot across the street is full of cars. The hotel staff was very friendly, the room was very clean and the noise level was very low in spite of the youth soccer league team staying there. Breakfast offerings are very good and served until 10:30 on the weekend. Nice touch.
