Lovely property, well maintained. The lagoon front has its own charm, though one missed the sea/ocean front beaches which have bigger waves. Excellent staff - in attitude, skills, knowledge of their regular jobs. Where I feel they can improve is the Oberoi kind of "beyond the call of duty" attitude, due to which I have pulled the overall rating down by one level. For example, I had a slight dent in my hired car, i asked the concierge to get an estimate to ensure that the rental agency does not overcharge, taking advantage of my rush to catch my flight. After doing nothing for a few hours, the duty manager said "we cannot get 'involved', since car is not hired through us", and now all mechanics would have left and tom is Sat, so not possible, and we don't know anyone nearby". Only after I told her that 'they could help only if they decided they wanted to help' that she then did what she should have done earlier - took photos of the dent, whatsapped to a garage whose name and no. she got from the directory, and got a whatsapp quote.
On the other hand, the experience with Veeru in concierge was amazing. He really went out of his way to ensure that Air Mauritius agreed to put us into an equivalent hotel (Oberoi) for one night, when the flight was cancelled.
The chefs went out of their way, to specially prepare veg items for breakfast. Though, at those prices, one expects the taste to be more authentic.
