Fantastic renovation

Posted Aug 28, 2015
Pros: Everything - especially my dinner.
Cons: Breakfast was a bit sparse. Hard to get coffee refills. It was busy because the local college had move in day.
Location: Move in day for Denisson University.
Best hotel stay I've had in a while! Quiet, beautiful bedding, and good TV placement!

Denison parent

Posted Aug 25, 2015
Loved my stay / room was huge and very nice. Had to stay an extra night and concerned they were booked but everything worked out fine. One quick note - if larger person bathroom is small and toilet paper roll jammed in on cabinet - so tight squeeze - very tight. Bar and free breakfast very nice

Beautiful Historic Inn - Great Romantic Weekend

Posted Aug 10, 2015
Pros: Comfortable Rooms Excellent Food Courteous Staff Beautiful Architecture and Public Spaces Nice Event facilities (Business mtgs, showers, etc.)
Cons: Task lighting in bathroom was poor. Room Designations - not sure which public room was what. Trouble initially distinguishing what "The Tavern" was
Location: Granville is a pretty little town with a few shops/galleries. Close to Columbus, OH Buckeye Lake Winery Dennison University
As part of an anniversary weekend that included attending a concert in Columbus, stayed overnight at this Historic Inn. The facility is a beautiful, old English tudor style with very comfortable rooms. Excellent bedding & quiet A/C made for a wonderful sleeping experience. The bathroom was redone new, but in a classic style with generous use of marble, gorgeous floor tiles and tremendous water pressure in the tub/shower combo. The only negative in the room was that the bathroom lighting was very muted so you could barely see yourself in the mirror. We took advantage of the kitchen onsite and had an excellent dinner (great steaks) on the outdoor patio - which was part of their Tavern. The staff was very courteous and served us right away after we told them we only had 1 hour at most from the start of dinner service (5pm) until we had to leave to get to Columbus. We also had a nice European Continental breakfast the next morning, which comes with the room cost. The server, Vickie, was super wonderful, a real gem and took care of us well. One comment , though, is that we thought she could have some help. She was a one woman show keeping the food dishes full, trying to greet each group, as well as serving drinks and bussing tables. With a dozen or more tables of people, all with needs - some things took longer than you would expect. However, her disposition made up for the delays. Regarding the overall impression. I definitely would recommend others staying here.

Pros: For the reasons stated above
Cons: The smaller tables in the main dining room were too close which took away from personal conversation.
Location: All in the brochures.

Wonderful Anniversary Destination

Posted Jul 14, 2015
Pros: Elegant, historical architecture modernized with soothing color pallets. Luxurious linens, towels and robes. Moderate sized inn in quaint setting.
Cons: Nothing with the inn, however, I would have preferred to visit Grandville when there weren't amusement rides set up on Main St. for Fourth of July.
Location: Right at the end of Main street which provides quaint shops, several appealing eating options and beautiful period homes.
So glad this inn came to my husband's mind for an anniversary getaway for us! What a treat this stay was! Other than the modern updates, I felt like I had gone back in time when a stay at a fine hotel meant you were truly treated as a guest instead of a customer. Built in 1924 this English Tutor-styled inn was recently completely renovated and reopened this May to a modern, luxurious facility all while still keeping it's old world character. The staff was wonderful, especially the lovely young lady who checked us in--she went way beyond the call of duty to make our stay special! Loved the special touches such as turn-down service by a gracious chamber maid (dressed in the traditional white aproned black dress), luxurious linens, towels and robes and a fresh cookie assortment waiting at the top of the grand staircase at bedtime (announced by an adorable tabletop chalkboard sign reading "Sweet Dreams"). Despite several excellent eating options just steps away, we opted to maximize our experience at the inn and dine on their beautiful front terrace for both dinner and breakfast the next morning. Both meals were delicious! The whole experience was such a pleasure-we felt truly pampered! Even though we only live a half hour away, we will definitely be back for another stay soon!

Parking issues

Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: Decor, comfort, size.
Cons: Just the parking situation.
Location: This is a beautiful, clean quaint town. Small town America perfection.
The place was clean, comfortable and accommodating with the exception of parking. After coming back at 10 pm from a day out, we arrived to find there were no parking spaces left in the lot. The valet parking attendants told us they are only allowed to park the cars of those dining or attending events and for us to search for street parking in the neighborhood. My 80 year old mother-in-law was driving in a second car. You can see the flaw in this plan. Both of us had paid for rooms and didn't feel we should have to schlep through the neighborhood in the dark back to the hotel. They also couldn't tell us if we would get towed if we parked over night in posted four-hour-parking. In the morning the lot was no longer crowded, so obviously the prior night allowed dinner guests to park in the spaces that should have been reserved for overnight guests.
