Budget hotel
It was a decent hotel for the price. Nothing fancy but it was clean and suited us for the one night we were there. Breakfast was cleaned up really early- I went down a half hour ahead and it was out away already. But we slept well and shower was fine.

Avoid This Hotel
There were people openly smoking marijuana in the hallways. The staff was swearing at guests. The rooms were filthy.

A gem in disguise
We were worried when we first saw the place, it looked a bit run down. But it turns out that it has a new owner that is in the process of renovating it, so even in the few days that we were there quite a bit of work was done. And even though it was a bit worn, it was absolutely spotless clean, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, and we've already made reservations for our trip next year! It was very fortunate that we were unable to book the hotel we usually stay at in Gaylord, this was a much better stay.

Scary Situation!
Evening desk clerk could not find my reservation even though I had just booked it on line and had proof of my confirmation. Told me to call the booking company and then suddenly he finds it. Check into my room and four hours later as I’m dozing off I hear my hotel door open and 2 people enter. The desk clerk had given my room to someone else while I was occupying it! Needless to say, I didn’t get much sleep that night.

BAD STAY
The romm was in need of some update. The A/C did not work and when we complained they came to our room and checked it and said it was a new unit and they could feel some cool air. We told them it was not cooling the room and they did nothing. We told them in the morning the A/C had not worked all night and we had to sleep with the window open. They still stated it was a new A/C unit and we told them they better have it check or the next guest would complain too. The remote control did not work. The breakfast had just a few items and the coffee was instant. We will not be staying at an American Best Value again.

America's Worst
I think I now know what it would be like to sleep in an inner city zoo. The $10 pet fee is very reasonable - yet I did not expect Cockatiels, pot belly pigs, and kittens. Cats everywhere actually. I think a pimp beat his ho in the room next to ours. Screaming, slamming, cursing very loudly. The AC did not stay on, the TV was from 1990 (but had a LOT of channels - remote didn't work), mattresses like stone, hairball in the sheets of one bed, broken dresser drawer, no chair for the desk... If you are looking for a place to safely, or rather, settle for cheap... this is it. Complimentary petting zoo included.

Not a pleasant or restful stay.
Booked a room with king bed through expedia. She had no sign of my reservation at check in, room was a double queen. The room had a bad smell, was noisy as I heard staff talking in the hall at night and the ice machine rumbling too. The vending machine was out if order and nothing, not even coffee was available until morning. I might gave been given a downgraded room because I had a dog with me, which I paid extra for.

In need of new management.
There was very little good to say about my trip to Anericas best value. 1) The indoor pool and hot tubs were closed down and that would have been fine if they let us know before we booked the hotel. 2) the front desk never had someone there. Ever time we needed them we had to call them on our cellphone.... because our room phone was not working. 3) I go to turn the tv on at night and there was no power cord for my cable box so I had to wait almost 30 minutes before they could find one. 4) my room phone was never fixed in the three days I was there. I normally wouldn't care but since I had so many other issues it just became another problem. 5) and this is the worst one yet... I got ready one morning for a wedding and when I came back my room had been broken into!!! Luckily I had literally nothing in there for anyone to take but that's besides the point... too many low class people in the area. In my honest opinion pay a few extra bucks and go somewhere else. This place is a total bust!!

Decent price. You get what you pay for.
Website pictures are deceiving. There was no pool or recreation at all. Staff was inattentive and absent all night. Scary! Room was ok but facilities mediocre. Like I said, you get what you pay for but not what you expected.

Dirty,noisy,worn out
Every aspect of our room was either dirty, or in need of replacement. Rugs had burns, ceiling had some sort of explosive looking stain, bathroom had spider webs , and hair everywhere. The furniture and light fixtures were worn and bent. Also the hotel was unsupervised from 1am till 7am and subsequently there was the smell of cigarette smoke and lots of noise till 5am. I wouldn't stay here again if they paid ME!

....all I can say is...OMG!
Our first impression was the front desk "clerk" smoking away in front of the main entrance. If I didn't know any better, would have thought the place was a half-way house. Lobby was very presentable but the place reeked of cigarette smoke, chlorine and construction dust. Our room was shockingly disappointing. Carpets were dirty with small pieces of paper, lint and wrappers littered on the floor: bathroom shower had black smudges as if it had not been cleaned (later found the spots was where the enamel had worn off). Walls were badly patched; furniture was old and outdated; room painted a hideous green color, and the air conditioner kept going out all night long. Never, never again....while we are as frugal as anyone else, I quickly came to the realization that next time we stay in Gaylord, bite the bullet and pay the additional $30 to stay anywhere else.

It looked like they were in the middle of fixing this place up but, they really shouldn't have you in the rooms that are partially destroyed. The bed sheets didn't fit the bed at all. The sink was cracked along with the tub and the wall still needed to be plastereda lot of cracks were in this room. There was "No" BREAKFAST they had instant coffee and a toaster no bread and no juices. Th website for this notel says it has a pool. It does not have a pool. you should be happy the water drains in the tub.

Night clerk had zero personality. I was given two queens when I booked a King. There was paper edging and paint chips all over the hallway as they must have been painting during the day. The tv volume did not work from remote so had to get up and change it. Bed was comfortable, shower was warm and good pressure. Morning clerk was very friendly.

Good budget hotel
This was a great hotel for the price. Clean, roomy and all employees I encountered were super nice and welcoming. An hour or so to mackinaw city which made it a great location for us.

Don't stay here.
Please don't stay here. The price tag sounds sweet, but pay more for the holiday inn on the next exit. This hotel was gross. The room smelled like wet dog and cigarette smoke. The pool and hot tub are non-existent. We found the room where they are, but it is being used as a storage room and there's plastic trying to cover up the windows on the doors. My daughter was very upset because she was looking forward to swimming. Honestly, even if the pool did have water in it, with the lack of cleanliness of the rooms, hallways, etc. I wouldn't have even let her get in it. The carpet was old and wet by the window. Please don't take your family to stay there. Also, I had to pay up front instead of when we checked out, which I didn't like at all. But it's probably because people see the place and walk out on their reservations. The photos posted are misleading and the pictures aren't even that great! Just stay somewhere else!
