Unfortunately our room wasn't available due to previous guests damaging the room. The staff at the Alexander Thomson were very helpful and booked us a room at a different hotel and took care of all the associated costs. I would have preferred to stay at the Alexander Thomson as it's very close to Central Station, shopping, and restaurants, but unforeseen circumstances caused us to stay elsewhere.

We were booked into the hotel but showed up to find that we had no room. We had to lug our luggage several blocks away to another hotel. This was the second occasion this occurred. Some advanced notice would have been appreciated.

Stayed in a more modern room with everything we needed. Breakfast was ok (a bit too much salt), and the front desk service was great! (Thanks Luke). Secure luggage storage option was also a very nice to have while we explored the area

There was a fire in my room, caused by the extractor fan. It was put out, but the fumes remained. Another room was found but not much of an apology even when I spoke to the manager the next morning a not even a Mars bar let alone a free night was offered as a gesture of good will. Didn't expect much but box of chocolates or a bottle wouldn't have gone amiss all things considered. The second room was not as nice as the original.

They overbooked so they switch the location of our reservation. We didn't get to stay at the Alexander Thompson hotel. They didn't contact us before hand. They told us when we arrived. We had lots of luggage and had to carry it all several blocks on foot to another hotel.

Tired hotel!
The hotel itself is very central. The parking is 10mins away and was quite tricky to find but we got it half price which was good. £11 instead of £22 for 24hours. The hotel needs a complete refurbishment as it’s very dated which makes it feel dirty. The bed was very comfortable and we had a huge room with views of the streets. It was a good hotel but I wouldn’t return as there are other modern hotels all around this one and the same price.

In need of a refurbishment Dirty windows that wouldn’t close Noisy fan outside window Dark room, upgrade on lights needed. Limited breakfast choice. Staff not very helpful. On the plus side, large room, powerful shower with hot water. Clean towels and bedding. Chose this hotel because it is near to Rail Station, but would not stay there again.

The staff was incredibly friendly, the room spacious. Breakfast was a decent buffet style meal that was good. However there was no air conditioning and the window was open outside for ventilation. The hallway was incredibly noisy, with kids knocking on doors late at night.

First impression check in area could do with brightening up,receptionist quite pleasant and helpful ,room you get what you pay for but clean and nice walk in shower ,bed comfortable and not a bad breakfast if happy having building workers coming over for their break .2 pointers for hotel .com people should be informed hotel is being used to house refugees or homeless,and building work is going on immediately opposite, pneumatic drills and banging from8am till 5pm ,didnt bother us but would imagine it could afew people,only stayed one night would imagine be unhappy if a few days stay

Staff seemed friendly, rooms were a decent size and a little dirty around the edges but ive seen worse for a cheap hotel (stains on the bedding though). Breakfast very basic but again good enough for cheap central hotel. However drunks just wandered the halls screaming at each other, kicking in doors and fighting and staff didnt do anything, so unless thats your idea of a good time I would probably look for somewhere safer/with security.

Was upgraded to renovated spacious room which was lovely Heating and shower fabulous. Stayed here before & will do again as it’s so handy for concerts at the Hydro etc (30mins slow walk along the pretty embankment of the river Clyde ) & Central train station.Reasonably priced for what you get too.

The room itself was very nice and incredibly spacious however there was very little noise protection from the outside. You can hear vehicles driving past and work on the construction site opposite all night and it did make it hard to sleep.

Room was stifling hot and despite turning heaters off it was v hard to sleep. Bed was small. Room was quiet despite the busy area and bathroom was new, modern and excellent. Breakfast was fine. All in all, ok for a short stay apart from the temperature…

Wasn't expecting much for the price we paid . Reception and common areas bit tired but we were in one of the new rooms comfy beds. Rooms were too warm during the night couldn't find a thermostat. Excellent location and price

Fine for a short stay
Got this last minute mid-week for a cheap price so was fairly happy with staying here for just the one night for a gig. The room itself was nice, big windows, nice furniture, but the bed was uncomfortable. The mattress was hard and the sheets weren’t soft but for a cheap nights stay it was fine. The room itself was clean but there were some traces of dirt and dust in the bathroom, but that kind of thing doesn’t bother me. On the plus side the breakfast was great - a buffet style with about 10 hot options and also toast and cereal so we were more than happy. The tv was also bigger than expected and the wifi connection was good. I would stay again for a place to sleep if i’m going out or seeing a show, but if I was to spend a lot of time in the room i’d rather have a comfier bed.

Stay was nice, bed and room were clean the only issue was that the shower was cold and wouldn’t heat up the taps had air in them so the water splutter and sprayed out randomly. But the room was nice and there was a nice Tv coffee hot chocolate and tea with water bottles it was warm and safe.

Noisy, outdated and over-priced
The single-glazed sash windows in my room let in so much noise from the busy street below that it was almost unbearable. And every time a heavy vehicle went past, the room literally vibrated. I don't enjoy having to wear ear plugs in a hotel, but even with them I slept badly. Limited options at breakfast, but the full English was hearty and plentiful. Staff were very friendly. Room was way over-priced, but that's undoubtedly because I stayed in the hotel during the COP26 conference when prices across the city were hiked. Decor is outdated. I came back to my room one evening to find that housekeeping had left my door ajar, meaning anyone could have entered. I wouldn't return either for business or leisure, I'm afraid.
