Home from home.

Posted Sep 30, 2016
Pros: Staff, location, room including bath, lounge bar and the food. What more can I say!
Cons: Leave it as it is
Location: I was on business so only briefly took in the hills in the background. Loch Lomond not far away and Glasgow is only about 20 minutes
I arrived late after 7 hours driving and needed food and a drink. The staff could not have been more obliging and made me feel very welcome from the start. My room was large and had a sofa, easy chair, table and TV INCLUDING Sky Sport. I began to wish I was staying more than one night. The bathroom had a corner bath with separate powered shower and a Jacuzzi. Breakfast was just as homely and I indulged in a full fried breakfast which carried me through another 5 hours of driving and two business calls. Whether business or pleasure, I can highly recommend this hotel.

Great place

Wonderful people, good food, fun pub, clean room, quiet nights. What else can you ask for? Travelled with my husband and teen-aged daughter for a family holiday. Good location for exploring Stirling Castle and the Campsies.

Blast from the past

Posted May 4, 2016
Pros: Close proximity to family that we were visiting in Glasgow and surrounding area.
Cons: Upgrade to décor.
Location: Glasgow, Stirling and the Trossachs close by. Good walk along the railway line which goes all the way to Drymen.
Staff very welcoming and friendly, used to be our local hotel for meals and a pint. Food was excellent, big portions. Condition of hotel - could do with an upgrade but very clean and tidy. Good location for the Trossachs , Glasgow and Stirling. Would stay there again.

Pros: staff, location
Cons: Cleanness.
Well, I do not really like writing reviews because I do not believe I am statistically a good sample of the population. plus i don't really like writing bad reviews but I guess bad reviews are as good as good reviews. it helps both hotels and travellers to improve. I stayed in this hotel for one night and here's my 100% honest review: I found the staff of this hotel to be little Stars! very kind and cheerful people, smiley and very friendly faces.. The hotel itself faces very nice hills..very peaceful and calm. Traffic was surprisingly relatively busy for such a small village. The hotel itself is modest, the room I stayed in could has been cleaner with no much efforts. The carpet smelled a bit but it was not uncomfortable. it was like the smell of your friend's flat for example... yes, i would say, the hotel looked just as a nice normal family house. I would certainly stay there again in future and I would highly recommend it with no hesitation.

Excellent stopover away from traffic

An excellent family-run hotel with excellent amenities, away from traffic noise. Lots of parking space, well-appointed room, excellent food.

Nice staff, shame about the rest.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Room upkeep and maintenance, hot water available in the evening.
Location: Close to Glasgow but in the country, nice grounds and quiet at night.
Hotel looks nice from ths exterior, well kept grounds and very friendly and helpful staff. However, room was tired, broken bathroom mirror and grouting on thd bath was poor. Ran a bath at 10.30pm and the water was cold!, just like going back to the 80's. Bathroom fan was liks a concrete mixer too. Generallg the hotel interior wax a bit tired and dated and in neec of a revamp. Dinner was very good, breakfast 4 out of 10. Not an awful place, but certainly not outstanding as other reviews suggest, I'd rate it as struggling average overall and below average for the bathroom facilities. Would not stay again.

Excellent staff

Location: The hotel is not close to very much but the meals in the hotel were good and reasonably priced.
The hotel staff made our stay. They were very helpful and friendly and nothing was any trouble.
