Mixed Feelings

Posted Apr 15, 2016 on Hotels
I would have rated the hotel higher except for: (1) condition of the tub, (2) leaking around the toilet and the bad caulking job in bathroom areas, and most important (3) Horribly SLOW internet. I depend on the internet for work and this just wouldn't work.

Pros: nothing
Cons: everything
Location: next to a noisy highway nothing but a gas station nearby
toilet overflowed all night.other guests hollered and screamed all night. when I asked desk cerk why wifi didn't work he laughed and said wifi never worked. No hot water in morning for shower and when I went to "continentalbreakfast" there was no coffee or tea but stale buns were plentiful. At 8 a.m. a plumber who spoke no English walked in on me almost naked. .

Asked to get in a little earlier, waited only to be told my room was on the second floor and they didn't have an elevator. I told them I couldn't do stairs and she kept saying that my reservation was for whatever room I told her again she told me I would have to wait until 2pm then. At this point I had already worked the night before (7p to 7a) I was tired and took the room. I tripped going up the stairs, hit my shin, spilled my coffee. I wished hotels in general would have rooms to rent for night shift workers. We have to get a room for 3 days instead of 2. Just saying....

Decent value; needs better maintenance

The room itself was comfortable, and both the heater/AC and wifi worked the entire time. For some reason wifi access was a lot slower on my phone than on my laptop, but once network traffic slowed down after midnight it was fine. There was also a noticeable odor in one of the floor hallways (not sure if it was mildew or if previous occupants had smoked a lot of pot) that made its way into the vents. Also, my roommate and I had to switch out keycards twice, and it still took several tries to get the internal or external readers to recognize our cards. The hotel breakfast was scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and a few bread/pastry items. The hot food wasn't bad, but skip the "orange juice," as it's worse than Sunny Delight. In the conference room, only two of the 10-12 electrical outlets actually worked. Since the fridge was plugged into one of them, that left just one outlet for my group to handle electronics and food prep, which made logistics tricky. I was in charge of updating various websites with news of our event, and ended up having to do most of the updates from my room. The conference room windows looked out on the outdoor pool, which would have been fine except the pool was a disgusting green mess that evidently hadn't been cleaned in months. Overall, this Econo Lodge was a good value for $50/night, and the staff members were friendly and professional. However, the property is overdue for some physical upgrades, which would make for a far more pleasant stay.
