A dump

Posted Sep 17, 2017
The buildings are old especially rooms in 1&2 block. Tower block a bit better. Beds must be 30 years old and very uncomfortable. Redeeming feature is staff especially the barman. He exceeded expectation. Food was good value.

Hi Peter, Thank you for writing your review, we appreciate all feedback and do try to improve our performance from this. I am sorry that you felt the hotel was "a dump", this is certainly not the view of many of our guests. I understand that you had an uncomfortable first night, however on advising us we had no hesitation in moving you to another room which was a superior room in our tower block. On the positive side, I am glad that you enjoyed the food and that Brian in the bar looked after you well..

Nice hotel near Quay

Posted Aug 31, 2017
Pros: Had a restaurant in it, although we couldn't get a table in the restaurant they served us out in the bar area
Cons: More staff on counter at check out time, tour party ahead of us took a while to check out.
Location: Right by the Quay, but by the time we arrived in Greymouth on the Saturday (4pm) the town seemed to have shut up for the weekend
Room was clean and tidy, beds are very firm. We stayed in tower block so was pretty quiet.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologise for the delay that you incurred at checkout and will look at how we can speed this up. We offer the same menu in the bar area as in the restaurant, many of our guests prefer to dine there to avoid the busy and noisy atmosphere in the restaurant

Pros: Some of the staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: The dripping shower could be fixed. All the staff could appear to be pleased to welcome guests.
Location: It was central so within walking distance of the main business area and lots of restaurants.
There seemed to be a lot of traffic noise so I didn't get as much sleep as I would have liked. It was good being handy to the shopping area when the street improvements are complete it will be much better - the rain created a very soggy path to where we wanted to eat. generally the staff were friendly and helpful.

Within walking distance of the station.

Posted Aug 20, 2017
Pros: Close to everything we wanted to do and we did plenty of walking around Greymouth.
Cons: Receptionist was a bit officious and the breakfast was ok. the bacon wasn't crispy.
Location: Location excellent. We were happy to walk around as we have visited Greymouth before. Art Gallery, and the walk out towards the coast, just fabulous.
Great to find the shuttle service at the station. Lovely room, great bed, fantastic shower. Loved the view from the second floor room. Nice decor. Breakfast was ok.

Thank you for your review, yes we are located in the centre of Greymouth, only 300 metres from the Train Station and Intercity terminal. We have 41 carparking spaces which is generally sufficient for our needs given that many of our guests arrive by train or coach and do not have a car.

Good for an overnight stay

Posted May 20, 2017 on Wotif
Pros: Location was good, taking in to account that it is on a busy road. Beds and bedding very good.
Cons: Small internet allowance compared with other motels we stayed at on trip. Bathroom is old and perhaps an exhaust fan would be good.
Location: Nice beaches nearby and easy drive north to Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki.
Considering this is not a new hotel, it is very acceptable. Beds were very comfortable and room was warm enough. Price and location was very good.

Ok hotel

Posted May 16, 2017
Pros: The location and the wonderful friendly staff! They are a credit to the Hotel and do a great job in a challenging environment.
Cons: Complete renovation outside and in
Location: Central, but let down badly by Greymouth being dead in the weekends!
We stayed one night in Greymouth after catching the Tranzalpine Express from Christchurch. Amazing to find nothing open in the weekend! Our Hotel was central and beside the river, but the building is very old and tired.

Thank you for your feedback, Greymouth can be very quiet on the weekends, A good time to relax and enjoy our beautiful coastline and scenery, I do hope that you will visit again when our refurbishments are complete.
