Home from home ..........

Pros: Clean, friendly staff.
Cons: The continental breakfast choice could be improved.
Location: The hotel is a bit of a trek from the main road (circa 15 mins), but for us that was not a problem. Often, someone would stop and give us a lift !
Nice boutique B&B with a family feel. Good size, clean rooms. Helpful staff.

Habitat Terrace - on the hill overlooking marina

Posted Apr 3, 2014 on Hotels
My 2-day stay was fine. The hotel owner is very charming, and the hotel was definitely sufficient for my stay. Finding it is a bit difficult at night, so it is best if you are driving a rental car to look for it in daylight hours. Once you get on the Old Military Rd on the hill behind Key Largo, just look for the brightly-painted building. You cannot miss it. Roads on the hill can be quite narrow and full of potholes, so all the more reason to arrive during the day.

Peaceful setting

Stayed here for two weeks on a work trip. Didn't want distractions, and did want a kitchen, so Habitat Terrace was ideal. Staff very friendly and helpful!

Habitat Hotel - Up the hill from Key Largo

Posted Mar 28, 2014 on Hotels
I was very satisfied with my stay. The only negative was/were the few mosquitoes flying around the room at night time. Maybe hotel management can look at covers to put on the shower drains, since that is mostly likely from where they came. Cheryl is a very good hotel hostess and very people-oriented, something not seen very often in hotel management these days.

Not what we expected

Hotel wasn't too bad, just that seeing pictures on the web site we expected a lot more. Hotel is far from the 'city area' a car is definitely needed. The food at hotel was expensive.

Lovely friendly staff

Pros: Cheryl, the hotel's owner, gave us a warm welcome and would often drive us down to Rodney Bay. The rooms were clean and the staff extremely friendly.
Cons: The pool is only a plunge pool but that wasn't a big deal for us. The location is a bit of a hike to Rodney Bay but cabs are readily available.
Location: Go to the street party at Gros Islet on Friday nights. Spinnaker's beach bar on Reduit beach is the best place to eat and enjoy the local Piton lager.

When we arrived at 4 PM (we had sent an email noting we should be there between 4 & 5 PM), there was no one at the hotel and we learned later we were the only ones booked there (It was the beginning of their slow season). The property is surrounded by a wall with a security gate, and we waited about 15 minutes until the taxi driver's calls were answered by the son of the owner who was living next door. He apologized profusely was very responsive and helpful. Because of our wait, he upgraded us to the "Bridal Suite", which had a great view of Rodney Bay and was very large -- about 1200 sq ft with a living room and kitchen. Because the suite was not fully ready for guests, it could have been a bit cleaner, but the rest of the hotel appeared to be very clean. The grounds had some lovely small gardens. We would stay there again, but would make a point of having someone there when we arrived.
