Hotel expierence

Booked our hotel through Expedia, great deal. First impression of the hotel was it nice. We were checking in and the wait staff was very rude to us and to the other couple we came with. We had asked for one king bed and the receptionist was rude and said they give what is available to those who book through Expedia. She also said that if we had proof of what we had selected she needed to see it before she offered us the high bed. We looked for our email confirmation, but unfortunately it only gave a brief description stating it was a junior suite. The receptionist then said since we didn't have a full description she could give us a king bed in a smaller room and pay $150.00 more. At that point we decided not to continue arguing with her and kept the queen bed. I was shocked of how rudely we were treated when we had only to be accomadated with the request we had reserved. Be aware that everything is very pricey. You even have to pay for wifi per device and per day. Breakfast for 2 was $60 it was decent, but I had a large egg shell in my eggs. The wait staff is nice and very attentive. They also only have two elevators for the entire hotel. One had been down for the last 2 days, so if you plan on taking the elevator it'll be about 10 min wait just for the elevator to get to you. I expected a lot better service and expierence. Overall I would give this hotel a 3 out of 5. The first experience with the rude receptionist was just unacceptable.

TOTALLY EXCELLENT IN EVERY CATEGORY

Pros: Virtually everything. Great value!
Cons: An ice machine would be wonderful.
Location: Great location for access to shopping. Uber makes to and from travel a breeze!
As retired Canadians now having lived just south of Guadalajara for the past 13 years we have stayed at La Mansion del Sol countless times. With one recent exception that resulted when a very lazy and uncaring employee went out of his way to disrupt our stay we have always enjoyed all aspects of the hotel. This most recent stay was once again wonderful and we already look forward to our next reservation 5 weeks from now.

Beautiful, quaint and comfortable.

Cons: It is a little warm inside the rest of the hotel. Although the rooms have A/C, it did not seem to cool very much.
This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a small, comfortable and rustic atmosphere compared to the "sterile" ambiance of typical chain hotels. The rooms are clean, spacious with plenty of modern amenities including a coffee maker, television, radio in the room, bedside chocolates, and a myriad of "gourmet" soaps to choose from. The beds were very comfortable. The restaurant is small and quaint with a beautiful garden view with plush green grass and water fountain. The food was very good and service was impeccable !

Pros: We liked the decor, and the room was very nice.
Cons: We were on the ground floor and there were not enough windows to open at night.
Location: The location was good and we could walk to restaurants and shopping near by.
Very nice hotel with a pleasant court yard. The staff was most helpful. We enjoyed our stay there and we will be back in a year of so.

Wonderful find in quiet neighborhood

Pros: Staff, breakfast, decorations, atmosphere, garden, room comfort, free garage parking
We only stayed here one night, but will likely return. Well appointed common areas and rooms, small hotel with excellent food, friendly staff, nice gardens and sitting areas. It was easily the nicest hotel experience we have had in Guadalajara.

I love this hotel!!!

Pros: EVERYTHING!
Cons: maybe designated smoking corner in the garden asince the garden is attached to the restaurant and the tabacco smoke and smell get into the restaurant.
Location: posh tony moneyed neighbourhood. short taxi ride to basilica de zapopan and downtown.
The moment I walked into the hotel I knew that this would not be an ordinary hotel but rather like staying over at a rich aunt's home. The hotel is located in an affluent suburb - you can tell by the high walls with barb wires and security guards out front in the nearby very large houses. It is quite basically stepping into a private villa or large residence. The garden is beautiful, the grounds are very tastefully furnished with mexican art. I love the -in a good way - vintage 60s vibe with wood throughout the house. I was given the VIP treatment - very nice of the hotel - a large room with a view of the garden. And, a bottle of good red wine and two youghurt fruit cocktails. Large bathroom with ample hot water AC, and quiet grounds. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Love the free breakfast. Will always stay here when I am in Guadalajara. Great hotel, great staff - and clean sheets with no hair - quite rare in mexico in my experience...

Nice peaceful and secure hotel.

Pros: Location, due to closeness to the party we were going to. Beautiful and cozy hotel. Very nice rooms. Quiet and secure hotel. Close doors all the time.
Cons: Attitude on some staff. They need to be trained about tourism. I took two couples from USA and since I am from Mexico I felt embarrassed.
Location: Good location. We went walking to the Plaza del Sol, Fabricas de Francia and we did some shopping.
I reserved one room 2 guest room and I paid additional adding 2 extra guests to it, but the service it was only for 2 people all the time. I was told that I need to ask for additional towels, additional cups for coffee, additional water bottles. On my reservation it was an welcome glass of wine that I never got and when I went back and read the amenities included I ask for it by the time I was leaving the hotel. And once I was told that I needed to ask for. I do not think you have to do that. Only one person when we came back to the hotel at the end of the week was very nice to us and offered information about the TV, the Air Conditioner and gave us extra towels. Staff was changing constantly and they need to be trained to show more care about customers, in that way we will fill comfortable during our visit. Most of the staff showed madness and undesired to work I guess. In other words I was not please with the service. Hotel is very nice, but the staff is not. I will think about it to go back.
