Terrible and NO support from hotels.comPosted Aug 3, 2016 on Hotels
Hotel was no representative of what we purchased. 1. The hotel had NO water for two of the three days and we were not advised of this on either occasion. 2. The wi-fi is only available in reception. This is a serpate building that is only open weekdays from 8.30 am until 8.30pm. 3. Room was painfully tired 4. Holes in walls and plugs hanging off. 5. Air conditioning was at best poor. 6. Out of hours there is no option to get clean linens or towels. 7. Contacted hotels.com on a very expensive phone call for in excess of 35 minutes and was promised call backs and vouchers. Still nothing received.

Unexpected PleasantryPosted Jan 14, 2016
Pros: We liked that the place felt like a hideaway. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the rooms were surprisingly larger than anticipated.
Cons: Bed mattresses could be softer and better wi-fi connections. Wi-fi only in the reception area which is in a different building than the rooms.
Location: The location is semi-remote but 5 minute drive to Center St. Francois. The island is small enough that everything is nearby by rental car ( a must).
Very nice facility that is off the beaten path. Located on the far eastern end of the island just pass the touristy area of St. Anne. Has a nice quiet pool and the beach is within a 5 minute drive or 10 min bike ride away. Very quiet and peaceful with a spa and daily workout activities for those who want to maintain activity while there. 5 minute drive to the Center of St. Francois to go shopping for food/art/clothes. Those traveling there should know some French and have an appreciation for French/Caribbean norms. Great appreciation for the Guadaloupe after this visit and plan to return and stay at this location. Not yet tarnished by too many visitors outside of France so has a laid back feel to it. If you stay at this location, please try Au Colombo restaurant. The food there is incredible!!!

Drilling at 7:45 amPosted Jan 6, 2016
Awoken at 7:45 am by drilling in the building concrete walls. We're not talking about simple noise here, it's penetrating, such that you can't hear each other talking in the room! That went on intermittently for over 3 hours. Staff was completely incompetent, claiming it was not the hotel, but the contractor of a private unit owner, who refused to stop when told so....

Shouldn't be rated as 4 star hotelPosted Jan 23, 2012
I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It's overpriced and the customer service is extremely poor.

a great hotel, 20 years agoPosted Jan 6, 2012
Pros: Quiet neighborhood, good room size and friendly staff.
Cons: 4 star price for a 2 star hotel, aging hotel in need of a complete overhaul, staff on "island time".
Location: Quiet neighborhood, only a short drive away from the lively marina with shops and restaurants and the golf course.
This hotel has seen much better days. Certainly not a 4 star hotel anymore that would justify the steep price charged. It looks like large parts of the original hotel complex have been sold and are now separated by a fence from the hotel. The remaining buildings probably do not generate enough revenue for the upkeep. There were a few new pieces of furniture in the room, but the majority is aging. This applies for the rest of the hotel too, some renovation has been completed, nice new furniture around the pool, but the walkways urgently need an overhaul, as do the elevators, and at the seating area at the bar the seat covers were covered in mold so nobody on his right mind would sit there. The room, we had a duplex unit, was spacious with a good sized outdoor area. Quite nice breakfast buffet too. The staff was friendly, but works "on island time", so do not expect timely and efficient service or room readiness at the time it is promised. In summary a hopelessly overpriced hotel in 2 star condition that needs a complete overhaul, but most likely will never get it.

DisappointingPosted Mar 1, 2011
The hotel is advertised as a 4 star but realistically will meet only just 3 stars Staff is not at all motivated and does not try to make your stay one to remember positively. Anything asked seems to be to much and will be solved tomorrow. The breakfast lacks absolute diversity and it has been 7 days the same bland White bread and mini croissants and pain au chocolat Definitely not up to western standards The big exeptions is the swimming pool and the independent restaurant

Nice hotel, ordinary restaurantPosted Feb 18, 2010
Hotel is well located, quiet, not new, but in fairly good condition and generally clean. Restaurant however is in need of renovations, but food is okay. Magnificent swimming pool, great for children as well as adults.
