Nice vacation

Building 1 room 120 was perfect! There is only one pool. I wish there was more of a variety of food available. I tried to eat guacamole and salsa daily; speciality restaurants were good. The Oriental restaurant was the best! The beach wasn't anything to write home about. Phenomenal staff. Jose with TAM was great! Drink service was great!

Great place to stay.

It had been a long time since we had gone to an all inclusive and the first time at an adults only resort. The food at the main buffet was delicious! Also loved the Italian restaurant. Plenty of shade to be found at the beach and by the pool. They made great drinks and had very friendly staff. The room was really nice too. There are a lot of steps, but at least they help you burn off some of the calories from all that food and drinks! Enjoyed seeing the monkeys each morning!

Pros: The view was good
Cons: Address everything above.
Location: Long drive to anything so rental car is a plus if you want to journey anywhere.
Booked a king size bed with Ocean view end with what was probably 2 doubles, hotel staff try to move me but only had a king with view of another buildings roof. Drink were suppose to be furnished everyday in room but were not. Cleaning staff did not replace consumables (i.e. soap) unless asked. Food was OK for buffet food. Staff didn't seem as if they wanted to participate in any of the activities they offered. (i.e. snorkeling, kayaking, yoga instructor was a no show).

No complaints about anything

Pros: Food, service, friendliness, cleanliness, location, beach, everything.
Cons: Not too much.
Location: If you want to shop Liberia is very close. Also it is close to the airport but far enough away so the noise from the planes is no bother.
The staff was exceptional in every aspect of our stay. Right from the start, our experience with the check in, the shuttle service, the waiters and waitresses, the cleaning staff, pool staff, beach staff, and the grounds staff, all were very pleasant, kind and very helpful. Our stay there was extremely peaceful and relaxing. The food in all the restaurants was great. They had food there for everybody even if you would have been on a special diet. We are definitely planning on going back there again next year.

Occidential all inclusive

Stayed here for 3 nights. Average hotel. Not the most clean. Beach was a nice private location and had the option to take out kayaks. Nice drink options but limited options for dinners for picky eaters. Food was average. For the price it was okay.

Very Poor Management.

We had a overnight flight so we're very tired when arrived. Waited 8 hours for our room didn't get till after 4 o'clock. Manager says this is normal :( We have never had this issue before. I realize check out was at noon. But as we were waiting since 8am, thought they could clean a room for us earlier than 4 o'clock. I started to get upset around 3 which is their normal check in time, because other customers were arriving and their rooms were ready. Information about restaurants not informative were told of 2 but there were 3 a la cartes. Booking reservations for restaurants terrible. They said they were always full but in reality they were never full, when we did get in half the tables were empty and stayed empty. Yet they were turning people away. (The only restaurant we had great service at from the waiters was "the grill". Food you were allowed to order in was limited Very poor service over all - felt like you were a inconvenience for many staff members. (Although a few were very good). Drinks were not offered, you had to get your own. No bathroom close to beach - long walk. No drinks offered on beach - had to get own. Pool area small. My husband caught a ride with a manager and he told him about our stay. He didn't seam to care. Food was good if you like buffet I personally usually find food cold in buffets. But it was always cooked well and had good flavour. We still had a good vacation at this hotel, but we don't think we received the service that we paid for

Dear Jeanne, Although we are quite surprised and dismayed by the content of your review regarding your holiday our Occidental Papagayo, please rest assured that your comments have been taken onboard and revised by the entire Management team, however we would like to take this opportunity to clarify certain aspects of your review as a simple matter of exactness of the information reported. We regret your disappointment for being unable to check in upon your early arrival and understand reading your review that apparently you were not properly informed about the appointed check in time starting at 3pm, although it should be reported on the booking confirmation; at the hotel we always do our utmost to make sure our guests can check in as soon as they arrive, unfortunately during periods of high occupancy it may not be possible considering that check out is at 12md and our housekeeping staff needs to undertake a thorough cleaning of the rooms before assigning them to new arrivals. We understand reading your review that apparently you were not properly informed upon reservation that we have 2 restaurants à la carte, in high season by the occupation a third restaurant is enabled so it is not mentioned on any website, and the capacity of each restaurant is very limited for hours for 2 reasons, dishes require a considerable preparation time as well as properly studied how many people can be served per hour to be able to provide a good service according to the type of restaurant, we understand that at first sight the place seems empty, but it is for this reason. On the other hand we thank you for pointing out the kindness and enthusiasm of our staff, their friendliness and helpfulness being our hotels’ main strength. Hotel grounds were beautiful, everyone friendly.

we had 4 couples. 2 couples got double beds, we booked kings. they moved them the next day and gave them free massages for their trouble. 1 couple got an old room that hadnt been used in months. Dusty, spiders, clogged shower. Took them complaining 5 times but they moved them to a super nice, remodled Club room and gave them messages and wine. The hotel sits on a steep hillside but we found out the 3rd day in that you can request shuttle rides up and down so you didn't have to walk those stairs. Everytime i asked for shuttle they were there in less than 5 minutes. The beach area was beautiful!

Beautiful quiet hotel.

I stayed at resort during Christmas week(2016). My room was nice and clean with a beautiful ocean view. The food was reasonable. Italian place was great. Resort has an acres to small public beach. Overal I enjoyed it.
