Not the best in town
The hotel is very very old. It urgently requires mass renovations if they want to keep up with other establishments. Yes the location of the hotel is in a prime area but so are many other hotel. The elevators are few and you have to wait for a long time to get into one. The carpets in the room are old and smelly. The bathtubs have cracks. The breakfast options are limited. I stayed at this same hotel 10 years ago and it was amazing but it has deteriorated ever since. I do want to acknowledge the work of the guest relations manager. A gentlemen from Ecuador who was very good.

Room was very nice, had a magnificent view from the 50th floor, also very quiet. The bathroom was just splendid! The facilities, specifically the gym and tennis courts, are a bit old and could use a renovation. The gym is a bit messy. But it’s all perfectly usable and enjoyable. When you check in, they take a photo of you. That’s really quite uncomfortable, considering the development of facial recognition and government surveillance. I’ve been to other hotels in China where they didn’t take a photo, so I have no idea what the rules are here. Also, I wonder what the point is, since they make a copy of your passport anyway. We stayed for three days and the pool was closed during that entire time. The pool was the main reason why we chose that hotel, so that was a huge disappointment. If it weren’t for the fact, that they take a photo of you at check-in, and the pool being closed during our entire stay, I would have rated this hotel with 4 stars.

Great Stay

It is old hotel but good they need to renew their furniture and the bathroom as well. The stuff were friendly and helpful. I didn't like the breakfast but you may like it. I may stay next time in the same hotel.

A good choice!
Close to shopping and subway. There’s was a American staff that was very helpful with all my questions and needs. Got a high floor room and the view was fantastic. The quality was what was expected from a Crown Plaza. Will stay there again.

It is always good to stay at Crown plaza in Guangzhou. Got a free upgrade to a suite, very clean room and good restaurant to dine in on level 4.

Hotel on the decline
I have stayed at this hotel every year for the past 5 years. It's obvious the hotel is not being matained as well as in the past. The bathroom had a good amount of mold in the shower. Still like the hotel but the food qualtiy for dinner had tremendously dropped and the service was poor. Seems like now one from the hotel was eating there and mostly locals. The breakfast is still very good!
