Very rude staff in reception

Cons: Staff customer service training pls
I've booked a night stay for my mum in Hilton Guangazhou Tianhe but the reservation is under my name so she was refused by the reception staff to check in. This is still ok not a major problem as I called Expedia UK customer service immediately and they have sorted out for me just under few minutes and even called to the hotel for me. However, it is the rude manner of the reception staff that made this experience awlful. She was blaming my mum not following procedure and this is her problem to sort out herself. Even after Expedia sorted out for me, she asked my mum to pay an amount without explaining what's that for and my mum felt so confused to call me again to reconfirm if I have paid all the room rate already. Only until I picked up the phone to speak to that reception staff and asked her if that's the deposit then she said yes. I felt so surprise to receive this rude service from Hilton when I paid nearly £130 upfront to book a night stay! They can never compare to Hyatt in the same city in terms of customer service and will definitely not back! It's clearly in Hilton they didn't receive the right training and I don't know how can they carry on their business in this way.

A true Hilton stay

Ms Jenny Li, Supervisor of the T Lounge & Bar (on the ground floor), offered exceptional service to us. The food was promptly served and with warm hospitality. She made conversation with us which was appreciated. The concierge staff, on the other hand, could do with better English and more initiative to build rapport with international guests. The room was extremely well-kept (even the bathroom - spotless!), apart from one oversight of the housekeeping staff - there was a scattering of nail clippings on the carpeted floor right in front of the couch. Perhaps vacuuming was done in a hurry. That was the only let-down. If free Wifi could be offered, then it'll be the icing on the cake. It was a stay at a Chinese Hilton that met global Hilton standards. Will definitely return.

It was such a good experience , the customer experience was the best. This is the place that I won't mind to go back even 10 times.

Need to change Chef!!

It was an ok experience. We liked the interior and style of the hotel. The staff needs to be more fluent in English. We had the hard time explaining the in room dining lady what we want to order from the menu as she didn't speak English at all. They need to hire people with English language knowledge. The food was very bad. They seriously need to change the chef! I had the worst French toast and Nasi Goren of my life. Overall it was an ok experience, not an excellent one.

great hotel with reasonable price

I love the style of the hotel, modern and contemporary. The room was clean and stylish. I love the huge bathtub in the bathroom! The gym was big but the swimming pool was small (but cute though). Overall, I would stay there again!
