Nice hotel but old bedrooms. Good restaurant, overpriced for the variety but good food.

Comfortable stay

Posted Mar 19, 2017
I enjoyed staying at this hotel twice during my Guatemala vacation. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms spacious although they are in need of updating to the decor. I booked a room with a balcony but did not get it either time so that was a bit disappointing. It's worth it to book with the buffet breakfast as it was very good. You can choose from many options and sit in a lovely screened in patio area to start your day! The large pool area was nice and I enjoyed having a drink in the piano lounge attached to the impressive lobby. The airport shuttle was very good. Was right outside the arrivals door to the left of the small terminal. Area felt safe. I walked up Calle Reforma all the way to a cool neighbourhood called 4 Grados Norte during the day for lunch. A couple malls are not far either.

top class hotel -

Posted Mar 16, 2017
Pros: everything
Cons: expedia and hotel to advertise / advise shuttle bus - logo /type/ colour hours of operation
Location: not inteested- buisness trip
situated in zone 9- fairly safe- hotel provided sufficient entertainment in house to excuse going out at night and ending up in zone 20

Boring, well-appointed hotel near airport.

Posted Mar 12, 2017
Pros: Staff spoke good English. Close to airport; had shuttle.
Cons: Quieter; more responsive to complaints. Lobby bar's selection was poor. Had to bring a glass of wine from the restaurant to get a decent glass.
Location: Right around the corner is a KFC and McDonald's. The 'Zona Viva' is 4 blocks away.
I stayed here for a total of 3 days. While close to the airport, it's not in the 'Zona Viva' a few blocks away, where the decent restaurants and nightlife area. Most of the good hotels are located. My main complaint was the noise. I had to ask multiple times to change my room, and even then (9 stories up) it wasn't what I consider quiet. They had some type of advertising demo in a courtyard blasting music.

Mediocre hotel

Posted Mar 2, 2017
Pros: not much
Cons: bathrooms
Every time we go to this hotel is going down, years ago, El Dorado Americana was a superb hotel, two years ago that I returned was regular, every time am there it goes down in quality, bath tub is clogged, no personal shampoo, soap, ;you have to use the ones on the bath tub wall, very poor quality. Food was ok, I have had better. Service in the dinning room is good.
