Estimada Sra.

Small hotel but great staff and owner.

Pros: It is very quaint and picturesque in a good way. Pretty flowers and views to look at from the patio and courtyards.
Cons: I would like ceiling fans and screens on windows and maybe doors if possible. We did have a mosquito that visited us often.
Location: Antigua is a very old city with many ruins of churches. Lots of things to see, good restaurants, and challenges buying from the street vendors.
Everyone strives to please. They were there for your every need. Breakfast, wake up calls, giving tips on restaurants and tours, even early breakfast in the room on tour days. They kept the place as clean and neat as possible. It has no A.C. but the weather is always cool, and the mosaic bathtub looked dirty, but I think that it was just the coloring of the mosaic.

Excellent service would stay again

Posted Sep 7, 2015
I would agree with a posting I read that said this is more like a b & b I never stayed in a b&b but I liked it. We had great service Julio was excellent and helpful and all of the staff was outstanding. I would stay at this hotel again but keep in mind a few things: rooms have no temperature control except opening your patio door - however security and privacy were so great never concerned ...even with a 10 year old and two young ladies ... You need to be buzzed into the building so no one is on the property unless they are staying and there is no way out except through the same front door. The bathroom had a window/door to the side of the shower this window needs to be frosted or curtains should be put here - when u get out of the shower the patio is right there so if someone your staying with is on your patio when u are showering they will see u naked. The only other downfall was the thin walls but the home was built in the 1500's. Excellent breakfast and amazing patio with views of mountains and if u go up on a clear night you can sit up on this quiet terrace and watch the mountain spew lava ...it's amazing to see and a must . My family will stay again and I can't say more how helpful and friendly the staff was - they made our stay wonderful and comfortable.

Beautiful, picturesque, timeless

The best hotel we have ever stayed at, and we have traveled a lot. The views from the rooftop terrace will be a highlight of your trip. This is where you will eat breakfast and enjoy the locally-sourced (safe to eat for foreigners) food. The manager is the son of Elizabeth Bell, a well-known Antigua historian, and he will point you to the local bars, sights, food, etc. We had a great time in Antigua thanks to his suggestions. Give him a call before you arrive and just have him book your tours and airport transfers. Everything will be safe and competitively priced.

Hotel Sor Juana is a gem!

Posted Aug 7, 2015 on Hotels
This little hideaway is cozy, comfortable, artistically appointed and has a very serene atmosphere. It is located between Santo Domingo and the ruins of Convento de la Concepcion. The rooftop dining area is set among an herb garden surrounded by fig and kumquat trees, beautiful flowers and views the surrounding mountains. They pride themselves on locally sourced organic ingredients for their delicious homemade breakfasts, which are enhanced with fresh herbs from their own garden. Staff members are extraordinarily welcoming and helpful. We would book another stay at Sor Juana in a heartbeat!
