Surprise

Posted Nov 18, 2017
If you can get passed the spider in your towels then it was good. It was very quiet and everything was within walking distance. Hotel staff was great but didn't like all the critters crawling around!

Oh no! That is terrible, and I am so sorry our wildness was so excited to see you! Sometimes it's even too wild for some of us here at WSI! We have just employed a new pest support company and I am sure we will get the beasts wrangled! If you have a moment to shoot us a note so we can know which room was being creepy, that would be very appreciated.

Great room in rural environment

Posted Oct 27, 2017
Pros: The locations near the redwood trees and coastal locations. The rooms were clean and updated and the bed was very comfortable.
Cons: Fix the bridge over the creek. Maybe earlier hours for the office to open.
Location: Wineries to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The coastal road (Hwy 1 - PCH) to Fort Ross is very windy and high over the ocean.
October 2017: We stayed in one of three rooms across the creek from the main part of the complex. The room looked to be recently renovated and it was very clean and comfortable. The bed was thick and soft and the room was relatively large and it included a refrigerator. Only down side about these three rooms is that there is only parking for two cars in front and the parking is a little tight. Only issue here is when I was loading and unloading car. The bridge over the creek is in need of repair, but the walk to the office area is maybe 1-2 minutes. There is also a homeless man living under the bridge over the creek, but more about that later. The town looks to begin to close down about this time of the year. Many eating establishments between the town and Bodega Bay were closed, and we were limited to outside seating as we travel with a dog. If you are in a similar situation (traveling with a dog), I recommend calling dog friendly places first to ensure that they are open. We walked to a pizza place in town along Main St. There were a number of people in the parking lot of the store next to B of A and based on the smell of pot, I assume that they medical conditions and/or the new pot laws begin in the north part of the state. Based on the sleeping bags and shopping carts, many also appeared to be homeless. I have no issue with pot, but I was concerned that one of the people was acting out in a very aggressive manner towards another in the group. I felt uncomfortable.

I am so sorry you felt uncomfortable in our community. Guerneville is on record for having a larger homeless population than San Francisco per capita. As an unincorporated area with very little support from our localized government, we do our absolute best to take care of all of our neighbors; whether they have homes or not. And it is true, cannabis culture is not shunned here, and so people living within those parameters are not hidden away. It's most definitely not for everyone. Though, this truth is also very well known! Like all summering communities, the summer must end at some point. And regardless of our climates change and these unseasonably hot spells, October is the end of summer for Guerneville. We hope you enjoy all future visits! Safe travels!

Hotel, staff and location were perfect. Had a great time. A 2-3 block walk to all the neighborhood stores and eateries. Enjoyed the comfort of my room and will be coming back for sure.

Great inn, quiet, out of the way town

Posted Aug 23, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Large cabin perfect for family
Cons: Faster internet connection
Location: Near Armstrong Redwood Forest, Russian River and Wineries
Our cabin was lovely; quiet, well appointed and secluded. The town is small and off the beaten track so location is best for those seeking solitude. The pool looked nice but was closed for maintenance while we were there. Free wifi was slow and spotty.

I booked a junior vineyard spa suite (for $239) and was extremely disappointed in the "vineyard view" - see attached photos. Had I known there was barely a view of anything I would have paid the extra $70 for the spa suite. The 2 person spa was also in the room and not on the deck, which I must have misunderstood from the description. This was a bit disappointing, but not a deal breaker like the view. Other than the lack of a view from the deck, the hotel itself is great. Very close to the town, which was nice because we originally intended on spending the entire time enjoying the view/spa on the deck. When that was a bust we wandered to town and had a pleasant time meeting many new people! I would recommend staying here, but pay the extra amount to get the room you want!

Alyssa, You are so right about room 120. Not my favorite either. I'm sorry you were dissatisfied with that aspect of your stay. Thank you for making me aware of questionable marketing in regards to that room! I will look into it to make sure the description fits what you get to avoid this experience for other guests. Thanks again for choosing West Sonoma Inn & Spa, and for providing such valuable feedback.

OK Stay

Posted Aug 7, 2017 on Hotels
Bed was comfortable. Nice continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday as well as wine tasting in the lobby. The carpet in the room was dirty. There was no AC but this area tends to cool down at night and the room had fans. I did not use spa services because you had to book 24 hours in advance. Wi-Fi was available but there was limited bandwidth. When the hotel was booked up the connection was very slow.

Thanks so much for this thoughtful feedback! We JUST had a team on-sight to improve our internet capabilities, and another still measuring for new carpet! Hopefully we can knock it out of the park on your next visit.
