The room was basic basic basic! Think DIY construction with materials from a salvage yard. But it was cheap, so no real complaints on this score. But ..... the website specifically advertises complimentary bottled water in the room, standard practice in even the most basic hotels in China, and there was none there. Thinking this was an oversight I requested some at the reception desk where I was told "No water in rooms" and that I had to buy it from the vending machine. Service at reception varied greatly .... communication was generally adequate except for the "water guy," and the young ladies were always very helpful. Breakfast was not included in the rate, and a sign in the lobby lists the Chinese breakfast as 18RMB (3USD) and the Western breakfast as 30RMB (5USD.) I didn't see the sign on my first morning, so had the Chinese buffet, which was a bit limited but quite adequate. Other guests were told that same morning that there was NO western breakfast, and found a muffin, yogurt and coffee in a nearby shop, but I had no problem with getting the western breakfast the next day. The Chinese buffet is by far the better choice unless one insists on toast and fried eggs rather than boiled. One plus: The hard-wired internet connection in the room looked old and tired, but it was the fastest and most reliable I found anywhere in China, including 5-star hotels. But ultimately the thing that I will remember is that there was no bottled water in the rooms as advertised.
