Anantara Lawana

The resort is very near the airport , about a slow 10min drive and it is not difficult to find. It takes about 10min to get down to Chaweng Shopping area as well. The bophut shopping area is also not that far away about 10km off by road. In the immediate vicinity there isn't much - a convenience store , a nice new massage shop, a tour agent office across the road from the resort. The ananatra resort ambience is present. However the pool villa will do better if there is a bluetooth speaker provided. There are stagnant pools by the walk paths which I feel maybe breeding grounds for mosquitoes. There is no source for new water to flow in. I stayed for 5 nights so got bored with the breakfast spread. Was surprised Thai Milk tea is not available. The self help noodle stall was good but can do better if its not the same meat addition , or the same 2 types of noodle choice every day.

As you mentioned there are a few convenient shops in front of our hotel and our location is close to Chaweng and not far from Bophut, but all the resort is very quiet and our guests can relax on the beach or by the pool, while enjoy the wonderful views over the palm trees and the ocean. Your notes on our breakfast are much appreciated and helpful. We strive to have a nice variety of breakfast items where the quality is a key factor for us, but there is always room to improve. Good but not great!

Cons: Facilities. General mod cons. Ability for staff members to be more authoritative to unruly guests
Location: Good location
We wanted a relaxing holiday stay, but didn't really get it. The two main issues that spoilt our stay are: 1) Room quality - It seems like quite a while since it's last renovation. The room was poorly lit. The air conditioning unit in the bedroom was loud, with no controls and constantly leaking. The bathroom had no extractor fan so it was hot and smelled of damp. 2) The pool area - We found a severe lack of respect by some guests on the house rules and consideration for other guests, with the hotel staff to polite to do anything about it. For example, a family with young boys played frisbee by the pool area and in close proximity of the sun beds. One time the frisbee hit my wife but the parents of the children didn't even tell them to stop. Shortly after they hit another guest on the back of the head but carried on playing. A very impolite family. This is just one example of the many rude guests we found at the hotel. The standard of facilities and types of guests make the hotel feel very much like a 3 star establishment.

Okay Hotel

Pros: Good breakfast, pretty sunrise, decent pool area.
Cons: Please enclose the bathrooms and air condition them!
Location: This is close to Chewang Beach - lots to do there. It was a little young "party town" for us, we much preferred Bophut's Fisherman's Village.
This hotel was okay. We didn't love the location of it and thought it was really weird that the bathroom area was not air conditioned. The pool area was nice but no one came around to take a drink order, you had to hunt someone down.

Best Hotel Stay Ever. Period

Pros: See above; enough said!
Cons: I would have marked 'room comfort' up if there had been more comfortable chairs in the rooms. But I would not quibble about it.
Location: Very convenient for the airport - especially for an early departure - but no noise intrusion. Close to Chaweng beach where all the holiday pastimes.
The main feature of the hotel stay was the staff. This may be true all over Thailand; I don't know, I've never been there before. But I do know that every single member of the Anantara staff (and there were plenty!) was friendly, cheerful and helpful to a fault. One even gets a very friendly salute from the gardeners (who, by the way, keep the grounds immaculate). Nothing seemed too much trouble. Of course the hotel is enhanced by its its idyllic tropical ambience with its beach, pool and the other facilities. The occasional rain storm was a minor hazard but the hotel provides brollies in each room. Altogether a really memorable experience for me, my partner and my daughter and granddaughter who joined us for three days on their cycle round the World.

A lovely hotel with excellent service

A beautiful property with excellent food, service, and lovely villas. This resort was an excellent value for the money. Its private beach is stunning. I recommend splurging on a villa with a private plunge pool. I highly recommend this resort.

Stopover - 3 day stay

Pros: Everything but staff were a standout.
Cons: Car park and entry. Car park is positively scruffy and gives a poor first impression.
Location: We only had two nights and 3 days for a much needed stopover on way home to Sydney from UK.
It would be hard to criticise the experience. Perhaps the carpark and entry could be improved to enhance first impressions but once we got over the threshold we were very pleased. The restaurants are exe cellent and provide a varied menu. Treetops was outstanding. Staff were helpful and lovely to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble whether it be power point adapter, hair dryers or - when we left my wife left a much loved travel pillow on a sunbed at the beach. We didnt realise until we arrived at the airport and just before we checked in, you can imagine our surprise when a young lad showed with the pillow. Outstanding effort!!

Lovely romantic place

Pros: Excellent service
Enjoyed our time in the lovely Deluxe Private Plunge Pool. Excellent breakfast with good coffee. Was impressive by the attentive pool staff who noticed that I had leg cramps and came with a deep heat to relive the pain. He also arranged for transport to our room. We enjoyed the excellent wine-pairing 7 course dinner which was value for money.

We had major problems with our reservation. Staff not helpful under our circumstances so I'll never recommend or stay there again
